FIXED-TERM CONTRACT (12 months) Salary: We offer a competitive remuneration. SENTECH is looking for a Product Engineer who will be responsible for architecture designs, technical plans, technical insights and support to the commercial and marketing team and work alongside the Product Development Manager and engineering teams to design products based on business requirements. The incumbent will ensure that all product solutions and technologies are tested and evaluated successfully and that all technical and operations team members are thoroughly trained on products. Key Responsibilities Stay informed about market trends, competitor offerings, and emerging technologies in the telecommunications sector. Provide insights and recommendations for adapting product strategies based on industry developments. Ensure considerations of industry trends are factored into the product engineering process. Define the technical aspects of the broadband products. Build innovative broadband solutions that meet market demands. Develop design ideas based on customer interest and budget. Optimise product performance, scalability, and efficiency. Gather and analyse user feedback to identify areas for improvement. Develop prototypes and conduct testing to validate product concepts and technical feasibility. Perform comprehensive testing, including functional, performance, and security testing, to ensure product reliability and quality. Perform root cause analysis and resolve identified issues. Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including product specifications, design documents, and user manuals. Establish and implement quality assurance processes Ensure that products meet or exceed industry standards and customer expectations. Ensure that products comply with regulatory requirements and certifications. Build and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external Collaborate with team members in the broadband business to ensure a smooth workflow and maximise possible output. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications/Electronic Engineering or equivalent. An Honour's degree in Telecommunications, Engineering or Computer Sciences will be an added advantage. Experience: 5 years relevant experience in product engineering and development in the telecommunications or broadband industry. Experience in telecommunication software, hardware and integrated solutions A track record of driving innovation within product development, including the integration of emerging technologies and industry trends into product offerings. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, marketing, sales, and other cross-functional teams to align product engineering, development and optimisation efforts with business objectives. Experience in identifying, establishing, and managing relationships with partners, suppliers and service providers to enhance product offerings. Experience in maintaining comprehensive documentation of product design, engineering and development activities. Experience in comprehensive product testing to ensure integration with existing products and fit-for-purpose to business requirements. Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of broadband technologies, including satellite broadband, fibre-optic networks, microwave point-to-point and point-to-multipoint networks, broadband core, transmission, and wireless access networks. Comprehensive understanding of VoIP, SD-WAN, IoT, Internet, Wi-Fi, and other digital services Good understanding of broadband network architecture, infrastructure, protocols, and security measures. Understanding of the broadband industry standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements in South Africa. Staying abreast of emerging technologies, trends, and innovations in the telecommunications and broadband sectors. Ability to prioritise customer needs and satisfaction in product development efforts. Understanding of quality assurance processes and methodologies to ensure product reliability and performance.
