Purpose: The Production Manager is responsible for all the manufacturing-related activities in the production facility, who's primary duties include planning, coordinating, and controlling all the steps in the production process to ensure products are manufactured to specification, delivered on time and within budget Key Job Outputs: Production scheduling Monitor the production schedule Review and adjust the production schedule where needed Manage human and material resources to meet production targets Maintenance of production facility Ensure that all equipment is in a well-maintained condition and serviced in regular intervals if needed Procuring factory production equipment Ensure technologies are used are relevant to optimize efficiency Maintaining hygienic conditions for both employees and the factory itself Implement and maintain standard operating procedures, work instructions and workflows for production operations Ensure that all standard operating procedures, work instructions and workflows are still relevant and being adhered to Determine and implement improvements to the production process Monitor quality of manufactured products Set product quality standards Analyse production and quality control to detect and correct problems Implement and enforce quality control to meet quality objectives Staff management/development Develop KPI's for production staff Coach and mentor staff to improve competencies and performance Performance manage underperforming staff Develop training and development plans in conjunction with MERSETA, the CEO and COO Manage and monitor production efficiencies, this is a K.P.I. Prepare and maintain production reports Run monthly production efficiency and revenue reports Monitor the organisation's backlog reports Monitors QMS and performance reports Manage all health and safety matters relating to the production facility Ensure that all recordable and reportable incidents are notified and dealt with in a safe and responsible manner Issue and manage all PPE requirements for staff Ensure all staff are following SHEQ requirements Be responsible for health and safety aspects in the production facility Leadership team Provide strategic input regarding : Execution of the the organisation's principles Sustainable operation of the organisation Communicating problems/obstacles to senior management Reduce standard costs of manufactured goods Increase production efficiency Health & safety incidents Reduce customer complaints and non-conformance reports Monitor and manage staff utilization Core Competencies & Knowledge Knowledge in production processes and techniques Knowledge of quality systems Essential competencies Critical thinking and problem-solving skills Planning and organising Co-ordination and control Attention to detail Team Leadership Persuasiveness Influencing and leading Delegation Conflict management Adaptability Solving problems Accept responsibility for resolving a problem to its final conclusion Drive achievement and the on-going improvement of business results Show dissatisfaction with poor performance and drive processes to achieve business goals Strive to achieve agreed deadlines and standards, especially when the going gets tough or the anticipated situation changes Review and evaluate proposals in line with broader business strategies Know when to move on to the next opportunity and do not invest too much time in spent business opportunities Apply a systematic problem-solving approach to identify causes, explore alternatives, and decide on the best course of action to resolve the problem now and in the future Interpersonal skills Speak clearly and confidently, be articulate Listen actively to fully understand the other person's view or perspective Develop and maintain two-way communication with a variety of people at different levels both within and outside the organisation Build a network of relevant role-players both within and outside the organisation Self-management Work effectively under pressure and proactively manage stress levels View change as an opportunity for growth or improvement Adjust your personal style to meet changing business demands Work productively in a high-pressure environment, maintain a positive outlook, handle criticism well and learn from it Focus on the issue, not the person Remain focused on the task at hand despite regular distractions and on-going requests for service Identify your feelings and emotional state, and express those feelings to others in an appropriate manner Work hard when required and work smart whenever possible Manage your own time effectively by setting priorities and through productive time management Plan for shorter-term personal development and longer-term career development Qualifications: NHD (S4)/ Degree in mechanical, electrical, industrial or production engineering Experience: Remain up to date in your area of speciality or expertise Apply a body of knowledge and experience to current business situations in order to add value and improve business efficiencies and profitability Apply technical or specialist expertise and experience for the benefit of the organisation and consider the context in which these are applied Ensure that your functional expertise supports that of other experts, rather than being in competition with them Persuade or negotiate with others by relying on technical or specialist knowledge and experience Present documented material or proposals in a credible and professional manner Share the technical implications of a situation with non-specialists or explain it to them Salary: Market related Should you not hear from us within 2 weeks, kindly consider your application as unsuccessful.
