The successful candidate will be responsible to implement, oversee child/adolescent health services in the relevant outreach area, support and plan with the relevant DoH managers and Anova teams on child/adolescent Health support and services. Key duties and responsibilities: Technical Support and Capacity Building Support PMTCT guideline implementation in line with Anova, SA DoH NSP for HIV/TB/STI (2017 – 2025) and 95-95-95HIV/TB strategy and Donor requirements. Routinely monitor performance & audit registers and files at facility level to ensure quality PMTCT care is provided (especially indicators that measure performance against 959595 targets) and provide mentorship & technical support where required. Work with Anova sub-district team to use data to identify poorly performing facilities, put together QI plans and implement QI plans as agreed upon with the team & facilities Identify training needs at facility level and advocate for off-site training where needed & arrange in-service training where needed Support the implementation of Postnatal Clubs and other interventions to improve the linkage and retention in care of pregnant and breastfeeding women. Direct Service Delivery & Clinical Mentoring Provide integrated care to postnatal women and their infants in postnatal clubs together with transferring skills to facility PHCN. Mentor professional nurses at DoH facilities on providing integrated care to HIV-infected pregnant and breastfeeding women and their infants which includes family planning and pap smears. Mentor on use of correct clinical and programme stationery (TB/HIV/PMTCT) including ensuring good recording of the details of PMTCT takes place in mother’s facility records. Evaluate the performance of NIMART mentees and provide monthly feedback on progress of mentees to line manager in resolving them or referring to the relevant reporting lines Health Systems Strengthening Oversee and support CLOs testing and re-testing pregnant and breastfeeding women for HIV at health facilities Support the CLO: PMTCT to link all HIV-infected pregnant and breastfeeding women to ART and other care and to retain them in care and virologically suppress them until their infant is 18m old and/or has stopped breastfeeding. Identify gaps in the care of HIV-infected pregnant and breastfeeding women at supported facilities and implement corrective measures where possible Understand and improve the referral pathways of HIV-infected pregnant women and linkage back into care following delivery. Support the implementation of MomConnect, PMTCT Connect and other communication interventions to improve the care of pregnant women, mothers and their infants. Provide support to the Gauteng Mentor Mothers Programme Administration Form part of Anova sub-district team and contribute in these meetings and activities as required Attend external trainings, workshops, and symposia as requested Represent Anova in external meetings as requested Participate in and present at Anova CME sessions Reporting Provide monthly facility/mentee progress report to line manager Report daily to the roving team leader and the cluster PMTCT technical advisor. Qualifications and Experience Registration as a Professional Nurse with the South African Nursing Council Clinical Assessment Treatment & Care (PHC Nurse Clinician) NIMART trained and mentored 2 to 5 years’ experience working as a professional nurse in PMTCT/ HIV/AIDS environment Experience in managing HIV-infected pregnant and breastfeeding women on ART Experience in training an advantage Experience in engaging with HIV-infected pregnant and breastfeeding women and their partners Ability to communicate in local languages (an advantage) An interest in community outreach and skills development Skills, competencies, and attributes: Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to manage relationships. Strong organisational skills, including task and time management, ability to multi-task, establish priorities, and meet deadlines; and work without daily supervision.
