Programme and Portfolio Manager FIXED-TERM CONTRACT (12 Months) Salary: We offer a competitive remuneration. SENTECH is looking for a Programme and Portfolio Manager to manage a portfolio of projects and programmes that are aligned to the strategic goals and objectives of SENTECH. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that projects are delivered timeously, within the budgeted amount while adhering to the required quality standard. Key Responsibilities Programme Management Prepare program budget, detailing budgets for individual projects within the portfolio. Develop and implement the project life cycle development plan within the determined timelines and deliverables for each project. Develop and implement comprehensive programme management strategies aligned with SENTECH's long-term business objectives. Monitor and evaluate the progress of strategic programmes, ensuring alignment with predefined goals and objectives. Monitoring and Performance Management Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to assess the performance and impact of strategic programmes and portfolios. Conduct regular performance evaluations, analysing data and metrics to identify areas for improvement and opportunities for optimization. Prepare comprehensive performance reports and recommendations for senior management and key stakeholders, highlighting achievements, challenges, and future strategic priorities. Manage project teams within the project environment. Stakeholder Relationship Management Align SENTECH delivery with customer expectations. Deliver exceptional customer service (in accordance with internal company objectives and profitability). Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including senior management, department heads, and project teams, to facilitate seamless communication and collaboration. Communicate programme updates, progress reports, and key milestones to relevant stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment with SENTECH's organisational goals. Display a positive and professional image of SENTECH during stakeholder engagements. Portfolio Oversight and Governance Establish and maintain robust portfolio governance mechanisms to prioritise and allocate resources effectively across multiple projects. Conduct regular portfolio reviews to assess the performance of individual projects and their contribution to overall business objectives. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal governance standards throughout the project lifecycle. Ensure that all of SENTECH's company policies, procedures and standards are adhered to throughout the project management life cycle. Risk Management Identify potential risks and challenges associated with strategic programmes and portfolios, developing proactive risk mitigation strategies. Implement risk management frameworks to monitor, assess, and mitigate risks throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring minimal disruption to project timelines and deliverables. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement contingency plans and address emerging risks promptly. Resource Management Optimise resource allocation and utilisation across different projects and programmes, ensuring efficient use of human capital, technology, and financial resources. Monitor resource allocation budgets, identifying cost-saving opportunities and implementing resource optimisation strategies to maximise operational efficiency. Leadership Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the Programme and Portfolio Management department, promoting the adoption of best practices and emerging technologies. Encourage creative thinking and problem-solving approaches among team members, fostering a dynamic and adaptive work environment. Initiate and lead process improvement initiatives, leveraging feedback and insights to streamline project management workflows and enhance overall operational efficiency. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree Business Management, Project Management or a related field. Project Management Certification, PMBOK preferred. Experience: 8 years' experience in Programme management, Portfolio management or Project management, with 5 years managerial experience. Experience within the telecommunications industry will be an added advantage. Experience in using Microsoft Office such as Microsoft EPM, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint and other IT programmes such as SharePoint and SAP. Experience in developing and implementing strategic projects/programmes that drive business transformation and growth. Experience in managing timelines, budgets and quality standards of a project. Knowledge: Strong understanding of project management methodologies, such as Agile, Waterfall, and Six Sigma. Knowledge of industry trends, market dynamics, and regulatory frameworks in South Africa's telecommunications sector. Knowledge of project management tools and software for effective project planning, tracking, and reporting. Familiarity with risk management practices and the ability to identify and mitigate potential risks throughout project life cycles. A strong understanding of financial management principles, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control within the context of strategic programmes and portfolios.
