Programme Manager (DELTAS AFRICA SSCAB II) 3 Year Contract - South Africa

Main purpose of the job: Assist the Principal Investigator (PI) in managing and coordinating the activities of the study and ensure project effectiveness Location: Wits School of Public Health, Parktown – Johannesburg Key performance areas: Coordinate and manage project activities under the guidance of the PI Ensure overall coordination and manage the implementation of SSACAB consortium operations to ensure the achievement of overall goals and outcomes Coordinate planning, organization, introduction, and delivery of biostatistics training at Masters’, PhD, and Post Doctoral levels, including a selection of students and outreach activities in partner institutions Ensure planning and organization of annual research meetings, scientific conferences, and workshops for trainees, and program participants Support the production of research outputs of trainees and program participants Convene meetings, liaise, and communicate with partners on institutional activities Support the development and growth of a biostatistical network in sub-Saharan Africa Plan, monitor and report consortium outputs and financial expenditure Liaise with the School and Wits Health Consortium Support Services on financial, human resource, and procurement issues Monitor project progress, budgets, and timelines Ensure effective communication and collaboration among team members Facilitate problem-solving and decision-making processes Maintain confidentiality and diplomacy in all interactions and handle conflict resolution Be available and accessible when necessary and operate efficiently in a pressurized environment Adhere to agreed-upon timeframes and other commitments to project sponsors Required minimum education and training: At least a Master’s Degree or a relevant tertiary qualification in quantitative fields, business, project management, or the sciences Professional body registration to the related field Required minimum work experience: Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities: Experience working with university and multi-country training and research institutions Broad knowledge of public health challenges facing sub-Saharan Africa Interest in and commitment to building research capacity Proficiency in budgeting and financial reporting Exposure to maintaining a well-run office and familiarity with biostatistics and public health research An interdisciplinary problem-solving approach and the ability to work independently Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational abilities with attention to detail Specific training in project management Demonstrated leadership and networking skills Proficient in Microsoft Office Previous involvement in organizing scientific activities related to biostatistics and public health research TO APPLY: Only if you do meet the minimum job requirements and experience as mentioned above, you may submit a detailed updated CV.
