We are currently operational in seven countries including Nigeria, Ghana, Togo, Senegal, and Ivory Coast, and have recently launched in South Africa and Tanzania. We are looking to engage a competent and experienced Project Engineer to manage the installation of solar hybrid power systems and support the operation and maintenance of installed plants for clients in the commercial and industrial sector across South Africa. Qualified women are encouraged to apply. Key responsibilities: Engineering Develop implementation plans for solar & hybrid system projects up to 50MW. Carry out site and roof assessments before installations. Installation of data loggers, conducting site/energy audits, and analysing customer needs. Support component evaluation, specification, and selection based on cost vs performance benefits. Produce a summary of material lists and bills of quantities to determine costs and coordinate with the supply chain department and other internal key stakeholders. Technical support for tender and/or proposal preparation including technical aspects of the project models. Installation of power systems across various regions in South Africa Lead technical client conversations through email, phone calls, and in-person meetings. Review contract technical requirements and facilitate close-out of technical clauses in contract negotiations. Technical support for all licensing and approval processes. Supervision of technicians during installations of solar power solutions. Engineering support through operations and maintenance. Project Management: Develop project plan to execute against project contracts. Plan solar and related power installations Direct, coordinate, and supervise solar and related power installations. Conduct quality assurance of technical installations. Identify electrical, environmental, and safety hazards associated with PV and related power installations and offer mitigation measures. Installation and Service Manage technical elements of the installation. On-site verification of installation and testing in accordance with design, internal procedures, regulations, standards, and codes. Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance of solar and related power installations. Resolve site issues remotely and through site visits. Actively monitor the performance of the installed site and provide written reports on events. Ensure customer satisfaction. Operations and Maintenance: Manage the implementation of procedures for operating and maintaining Daystar Powers’ assets Set up and lead the service team to ensure: Minimum uptime of 99.5% of the assets. Adherence of clients to contractually agreed operational procedures and operating times. Best-practice maintenance of assets, including diesel and gas generators, batteries, inverters, and solar panels to maximise their life. Liaise with customer account team to ensure quick deployment of solutions to client site. Ensure training of field service engineers and technicians to enable them to effectively operate and maintain power assets. General Implement standard operating procedures and HSSE standards for solar and hybrid installation work. Review technological trends in the local and global energy sector. Liaise with regulatory and governmental institutions as may be required. Develop and coach technical staff. Assist in market research. Requirements 1. Education: Degree in Engineering; preferably Electronics, Electrical or Mechanical Project Management Professional (PMP) certification 2. Experience : Minimum of 3 years experience in renewable energy power system installations Experience in implementing power systems. Must be self-motivated and demonstrate a sense of ownership with a high level of commitment. Must demonstrate good communication skills and ability to work well in teams. Must demonstrate discretion in dealing with sensitive information. Must be flexible to travel domestically and internationally. Must be able to manage time, prioritize tasks, and work under pressure. Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects simultaneously at various stages. Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects simultaneously at various stages. Must demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint in particular). Proficient in project management tools and software (MS Projects in particular) 3. Language Proficiency : Proficiency in English 4. Character: Self-motivated and demonstrate a sense of ownership with a high level of commitment and the ability to thrive under pressure. Passionate about quality of workmanship Good communication skills and ability to lead and work well in teams. Discretion in dealing with sensitive information. Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects in parallel and prioritize competing demands, passion for renewable energy Demonstrate a keen eye for detail. Able to manage time, prioritize tasks, and work under pressure HSE certification is an added advantage. Must demonstrate proficiency in solar design software such as HOMER, PVsyst, AutoCAD, and Helioscope. 5 . Functionally Reports To : Head, Technical 6 . Supervises: Installers/Project Technician 7 .
