Project Mechanical Piping Engineer (13543 PMT IJV) - South Africa

Our client, a leader in the global oil and gas industry, is looking for a Project Mechanical Piping Engineer from an Infrastructure and Joint Venture background (physically residing in South Africa) to be part of a team directly responsible and accountable for the delivery of best-in-class capital projects by ensuring that engineering design, procurement, construction, and project completion is done in compliance with the project contract requirements. Please note that the interviews will take place in person in South Africa only. In addition, only BSc or BEng will be considered. Experience in the GCC or Saudi Arabia is highly preferred Must have worked for a leading project house on oil and gas projects (not petrochem) Design, construction and project management experience (not technical operations, maintenance etc) Key Responsibilities Design or study mechanical modification to oil and gas processing, oil and gas handling and utilities facilities. Execute capital projects according to the work scope, schedule, and budget. Responsible for project development and completion: Preliminary engineering to detail designs to construction and the final and safe turnover to proponent. Provide engineering support to repair hydrocarbon leaks, review and approve the bolted clamp calculations and design made by the specialized leak sealing contractors companies to maintenance prior to field installation. Review detailed drawings and material specification from Layout Group for piping modifications as requested. Develop and apply piping material classes based on product and project requirements Specify insulation, paint, and protective coatings on Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) Design development of project proposal, include definition of project work scope and schedule requirements. Development of detailed estimate leading to funding appropriation and approval. Participate in HAZOP Studies, FEED review and Detailed Engineering. Manage contractor preparation of detailed design drawings, material specifications and procurement, and/or construction bid packages. Provide input to develop and prepare contracting plan and strategy for solicitation, evaluation, and award of contract for detail engineering, procurement, and construction. Review the project schedule, and coordinate and monitor the assigned project’s progress, and challenge below par performance of the contractor. Lead multiple concurrent projects, each potentially with one or more support engineers Analyze schedules and budgets. Select and specify manual valves and piping specialty items Create and maintain internal specifications, work instructions, and job aids Conduct special studies in the field of Project Management. Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s Degree (BSc or BEng only) in Mechanical Engineering. A higher degree is preferred. Ideally a Professional Registered Engineer. PMP Certification is desirable but not mandatory. You will have seven years' experience, preferably in the oil industry (not petrochemical) or similar process industry working in the engineering design and construction phase of projects. You will have experience in the support of both small- and large-scale capital projects. You will have excellent English communication skills (verbal and written). You must have a thorough knowledge of best engineering practices, solid international industry codes and standards background (ASME, API, NACE, ASTM, ISO) and use of engineering software. Apply Now
