Job Title: Projects and Business Development Manager

Location: Benoni

Overall Purpose of the Position: We are seeking a highly skilled Projects and Business Development Manager to join our team. This role is responsible for planning, executing, and completing projects on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards. The successful candidate will oversee the entire project lifecycle, from initial planning and design to implementation and final delivery, while collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Planning and Execution:

   • Develop project plans, define objectives and goals, and allocate resources.
   • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
   • Plan quality control interventions and align projects with the organization's overall business strategy.

2. Time Management:

   • Manage project timelines and schedules.
   • Ensure projects are executed within allocated man-hours and meet schedule deadlines.

3. Monitoring Progress:

   • Create schedules and project timelines, monitor and report on project progress.
   • Measure progress against plans and use appropriate tools to collect project data for future use.

4. Team Assembly and Leadership:

   • Collect, manage, and support project teams.
   • Ensure deliverables are in line with the schedule, assign tasks and deadlines, and provide necessary tools for collaboration.

5. Budget Management:

   • Monitor actual spending versus budget allowance.
   • Adjust project constraints based on financial analysis and allocate resources efficiently.

6. Quality Assurance and Client Satisfaction:

   • Lead quality assurance on projects and ensure adherence to quality standards.
   • Manage sub-supplier quality interventions and maintain accurate documentation.

7. Risk Management:

   • Perform risk assessments and implement controls to minimize risks.
   • Evaluate suppliers and manage project risks effectively.

8. Reporting and Documentation:

   • Compile and present reports to stakeholders on progress and solutions.
   • Maintain comprehensive project documentation and develop necessary process maps.

9. Commercial Management:

   • Define project scope, goals, and deliverables.
   • Manage commercial aspects of contracts and relationships with sub-suppliers and stakeholders.

10. Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) Compliance:

    • Adhere to SHE policies and procedures.
    • Actively support the company's SHERQ Management System.

Qualifications:

• Academic: Bachelor’s Degree in Project Management, Business Management, or a related field.
• Vocational/Technical: Technical Diploma/Degree in Project Management.
• Experience: Three to five years of experience in project management and business development.

Essential Skills and Knowledge:

• Proficient knowledge of the engineering industry and business management.
• Strong understanding of project management principles, methodologies, and execution.
• Familiarity with the Process Plant industry and contractual law.
• Experience in managing resources, costs, risks, and people.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Projects.
• Knowledge of workplace safety and quality requirements, specifically ISO 9001:2015.
• Basic understanding of engineering principles and technical know-how of industry technologies.

Performance Deliverables:

• Project Delivery Efficiency: Monitor timely and budget-compliant project delivery, achieve milestones, and manage setbacks and issues.
• Team Leadership: Ensure employee adherence to deadlines, satisfaction, retention, and productivity.
• Budget Management: Maintain cost performance, achieve project gross profit margins, and ensure budget compliance.
• Quality and Client Satisfaction: Ensure projects meet quality standards, manage quality-related issues, and maintain high client satisfaction and retention.
• Reporting and Documentation: Deliver timely project updates, reports, and maintain comprehensive documentation.
• SHE Compliance: Monitor incident rates, train team members in health and safety, and manage risk events effectively.
