Quality Controller - Heidelberg
A leading body and trailer manufacturing company in Heidelberg, Gauteng, is currently seeking a diligent and experienced Quality Controller to join their team. Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day operations of the quality assurance department.
- Support manufacturing department by ensuring proper sequencing of production and timely formulation and checking of batches.
- Conduct routine quality assurance functions to ensure raw materials and finished products meet specifications.
- Maintain permanent records of product quality data and oversee inspection of resale products.
- Manage rejected/returned materials and associated documentation, including internal, vendor, and customer rejections.
- Monitor production control functions, equipment inspection, and batching procedures.
- Train quality employees and coordinate procurement of department supplies.
- Ensure health and safety compliance in the workplace.
- Ensure compliance with customer and quality requirements and coordinate corrective actions for product failures and returns.
- Compile data for quality Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for submission to the SHEQ Manager.
- Control, plan, and process flow input for all projects.
- Collaborate with production team to sample and test raw materials, packaging, and finished products.
- Investigate internal and external quality complaints and implement necessary corrective actions.
Desired Experience & Qualification:
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or science discipline, National Diploma in Construction, or equivalent technical work experience.
- Minimum of five years of work experience in an industrial quality environment.
- Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with SAP or SAP 1.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Interpersonal and negotiating abilities.
- Proficiency in English language.
- First-hand knowledge/experience of refrigerated body building.
- Experience in lean manufacturing processes.
- Background in production/steel trailer manufacturing.
- Knowledge of OHS safety regulations.
Minimum Requirements:
- Mechanical Diploma.
- After School Studies beneficial.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a Quality Inspection role.
- Knowledge and application of ISO systems.
- Technical background.
