Quality Controller - Alberton

Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct quality checks on raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  2. Perform visual inspections, measurements, and sensory evaluations of products to identify defects, inconsistencies, or deviations from specifications.
  3. Utilize testing equipment and instruments to analyze product samples for attributes such as pH levels, moisture content, texture, and flavor.
  4. Document and record quality control data accurately and maintain detailed records of inspection results.
  5. Communicate quality issues or deviations to production staff and management in a timely manner and collaborate on corrective actions.
  6. Monitor and verify adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), and other food safety protocols.
  7. Conduct internal audits and inspections to assess compliance with quality control procedures and identify areas for improvement.
  8. Investigate and resolve customer complaints related to product quality or safety issues, coordinating with relevant departments as needed.
  9. Participate in root cause analysis and problem-solving activities to address quality issues and implement preventive measures.
  10. Train production staff on quality control procedures, standards, and best practices to ensure consistency and compliance.
Requirements:
  1. Bachelor's degree in food science, biology, chemistry, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Proven experience in quality control or quality assurance roles within the food and beverage manufacturing industry.
  3. Strong understanding of quality management systems, food safety regulations, and industry standards (e.g., FDA, ISO).
  4. Familiarity with quality control techniques, methodologies, and statistical tools.
  5. Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify and analyze quality issues effectively.
  6. Proficiency in using quality testing equipment and instruments.
  7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  8. Effective communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical information clearly and concisely.
  9. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  10. Commitment to upholding high standards of product quality, safety, and compliance.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Certification in quality management systems (e.g., Certified Quality Auditor, Certified Quality Technician).
  2. Experience with Continuous Improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing.
  3. Knowledge of sensory evaluation techniques and sensory science principles.
  4. Previous experience in conducting supplier audits and evaluations.
