Quality Engineer - Welding - Port Elizabeth

Job Description and Responsibilities

Applications are invited from suitably qualified & experienced employees to fill the above vacancy In Quality Assurance – QA Vehicle Manufacturing Department.

As part of the QAVM engineering team the successful candidate will take up the role of a quality engineer to ensure that problem analysis is done to the required Group guidelines and meets the customer’s expectations. The QA Engineer has to clearly define and coordinate corrective actions.

Job Description and Responsibilities

  • Establishing root causes and implement corrective actions for allocated quality problems.
  • Interfacing with various departments within the company
  • Present findings / reports at various forums and management structures
  • Liaising with overseas counterparts with regard to build/quality matters
  • Co-ordinate and be accountable for Quality issues.
  • Lead cross functional teams when required.
  • Monitor and reporting of non-conformances and processes to drive early detection and initiate corrective actions.

Education and Experience

  • Have a minimum National Diploma in one of the following engineering sciences (ND Mechanical. Electrical, Mechatronics, Metallurgy)
  • Have 3 -5 years’ experience within the manufacturing industry.

Requirements:

  • Have good report writing and presentation skills.
  • Have proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Sound knowledge of Vehicle Manufacturing processes
  • Sound problem-solving skills and Quality Tools e.g., Fishbone, FMEA, SPC & DOE
  • Experience in interpreting measuring reports and technical drawings
  • Proficiency in database software packages (MS SQL, Oracle etc.)
  • Be assertive and have the ability to motivate.
  • Be a team player and be able to work under pressure.

Additional Information:

  • Welding Engineer
  • Have process and material knowledge of welding and sealer joints in body construction.
  • Sound knowledge of weld and sealer applications equipment, inclusive of monitoring systems and control

Preferred

  • BSc Degree / B-Tech Mechanical / Metallurgy or Mechatronics Engineering
  • The following will be advantageous:
  • Analytically minded with the ability and inclination to work accurately with databases.
  • System based data extraction, interpretation and analysis.
  • Toolmaker Trade
  • Experience in engineering packages (CATIA, CAD)
