Radiation Unit Manager - Cape Town City Centre

Requirements:
  • BTech/BSc in Radiotherapy preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of full-time experience, with 5 years in a senior/lead position within a radiotherapy department.
  • Registration with HPCSA.
  • Computer literacy is essential.
  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills and customer orientation.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assume senior responsibilities in treatment and planning.
  • Ensure adherence to international best practices in all radiotherapy services.
  • Champion radiotherapy services, offering guidance and support to the National Oncology Manager and Hospital Manager.
  • Develop technology, techniques, and workflow procedures within the Radiation Therapy department.
  • Organize and monitor the treatment section to meet the needs of patients receiving Radiation Therapy services.
  • Supervise and train therapy personnel.
  • Manage equipment, including administration of the quality assurance plan.
  • Attend and actively participate in department committees and meetings.
  • Assist the department in meeting strategic goals and objectives.
  • Oversee technical staff and clinical operations within Radiation Oncology patient treatment areas.
  • Manage radiation therapist staff, including staffing levels, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
  • Ensure accurate radiation services for patients.
  • Facilitate staff learning and development to enhance the Radiation Therapy team process.
  • Schedule and organize equipment training, staying updated on new equipment and techniques.
  • Maintain stock control and ensure necessary supplies are available.
  • Make critical decisions regarding clinic operations, including after-hour treatments and downtime plans for machines.
  • Establish and maintain a quality assurance program, ensuring compliance with prescribed standards.
  • Handle day-to-day administration tasks, including file maintenance, record-keeping, and stock control.
  • Coordinate radiation planning and treatments, including stereotactic procedures.
  • Manage medical aid authorization and reimbursement processes.
  • Plan and control staff schedules, as well as coordinate with oncologists and medical physicists.
  • Ensure client satisfaction through continuous improvement and value addition.
  • Maintain compliance with ISO 9001:2008 standards and undergo internal and external audits.
