Diplomat South Africa is recruiting for the role of Sales Representative - Tier 2 (Sales and Merchandising) based in KwaZulu-Natal (Pietermaritzburg). This position will report to the Regional Manager. Job Objective To manage the merchandising team and ensure that all customers receive a professional merchandising service. This role includes the execution and implementation of merchandising standards and ensuring compliance with Diplomat SA's policies, practices, and procedures. To implement the sales strategy in the allocated region for all the customers in that region. The main purpose is to achieve sales targets and revenue margins by ensuring that the right products are in the right place at the right time. The execution of the sales plans for allocated customers shall be in compliance with Diplomat SA's policies, practices and procedures. For Pharma: to conduct detailing of active ingredients in pharmacy products. Execute the sales plan for allocated customers. Ensure achievement of monthly targets, objectives and display targets. Conduct analysis of customer and sales metrics, costs and categories to inform business decisions. Conduct negotiations with the customers for display and shelf space. Participate in weekly and monthly meetings with the team to keep track of progress on allocated targets. For Pharma: Develop and demonstrate knowledge of products and conduct detailing of active ingredients in the pharmacy products such as Vicks, Clear blue, Oral B etc. Build and maintain relationships with customers. Develop and demonstrate a thorough understanding of the customer's business. Address and resolve sales related customer complaints as well as issues escalated by merchandisers to ensure customer satisfaction. Manage the costs related to the allocated merchandising team. Address customer complaints such as deliveries not being on time, out of stocks etc. Liaise with sales representatives to resolve the issues as well as issues escalated by merchandisers to ensure customer satisfaction. Monitor stock levels and ensure timeous ordering of stock. Monitor the erection of displays, availability of promotional material and compliance to vendor standards. Monitor and control customer service through monthly call cycle: Ensure there are no gaps on shelves. Check that all stock has appropriate labels. Validate that negotiated shelf space has been utilised. Inspect rotation of stock in customer store. Ensure fastest selling lines are on display. Monitor the set-up of displays by the tactical team. Ensure execution of planograms as well as scheduled displays as per the black file. Hand over amended/new planograms to merchandisers. Support the Diplomat sales team in the achievement of targets. Manage and monitor performance, attendance, behaviour and competence of the merchandising team. Explain monthly objectives to the team originating from the brand priority documents and ensure the achievement of same objectives. Maintain records of the training attended by merchandisers. Support sales team in the achievement of targets. Ensure compliance with merchandising standards and Vendor requirements. Motivate, Coach and Develop the merchandising field force so as to ensure that the merchandising team understands the relevant principals Merchandising & Marketing Standards. Provide on the job as well as classroom training to merchandisers based on the assessment of their competence. Conduct in field training with the team members to develop into successful merchandisers. Facilitate the induction process for new merchandisers. Escalate complaints to Regional Manager as required, depending on the nature of complaint. Support and guide the merchandisers in customer relationship management. Collect business intelligence information from customers and share same with the Regional Manager. Ensure sales metrics are captured and tracked. Validate customer stores on a regular basis to ensure compliance with the criteria listed on the Perfect Store scorecard. Comply with DSA standards in execution of the sales plan. Maintain the timesheet on a regular basis. Take responsibility for self-development through self-study, identification of learning opportunities. Completed Matric OR equivalent accredited by SAQA. 5 years' experience in the Sales & Merchandising environment from the FMCG industry. 2 year's team management experience. A clear understanding and working knowledge of the predetermined formal Accounts Channel and Independent Retail and Wholesale of the FMCG environment, in which the following criteria will have to be met, implemented and executed. Highly motivated and responsible, with the ability to work with mini-mum supervision. The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Strong negotiation skills & business acumen. Own reliable vehicle with a valid driver's licence. Must be based in KwaZulu-Natal (Pietermaritzburg). Apply Now
