Description Additional information: WITS MRU is a division of the Wits Health Consortium under the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of the University of the Witwatersrand MRU is committed to supporting the millennium development goals aimed at gender equity, maternal and child health as well as combatting HIV These guide its work which focuses on sexual and reproductive health with research being conducted in HIV prevention, maternal health, barrier methods and contraception The Division conducts clinical, behavioural, operations and implementation science research and supports health systems strengthening, including capacity building and technical support Main purpose of the job: The Intern will work with various projects and assist with different aspects of Qualitative research, including interviewing, transcription/translation of interviews, coding qualitative transcripts, developing coding manuals for qualitative research, capturing, cleaning and interpreting data Assisting project with daily administration, developing presentations and posters, and conducting literature reviews Location: WITS MRU Durban - Commercial City Research Site Key performance areas: Assist in data collection and transcribing of qualitative interviews Code qualitative transcripts Develop coding manuals for qualitative datasets Assist with data cleaning Conduct literature reviews Assist in research project administration Contribute to design, data collection, and analysis for aims of research project Interpret and summarize research findings Contribute to poster and manuscript development Required minimum education and training: Honors Degree (relevant) Required minimum work experience: Microsoft Office is essential with experience in working with qualitative software packages Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities: Good Clinical Practice Certification Masters in a relevant area Experience working in a research or health care environment Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines Able to maintain confidentiality, tact and professionalism at all times Excellent communication and organisational skills and ability to liaise with external stakeholders TO APPLY: Only if you do meet the minimum job requirements and experience as mentioned above, you may submit a detailed updated CV.
