Resident Engineer - Kou-Kamma


QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • BSc/BTech (Civil Engineering)
  • Professionally registered - PrEng/PrTechEng
  • 10+ years' experience as Resident Engineer on road construction projects (Provincial or National)
  • Must have been an RE on at least 1 SANRAL projects with construction value of more than R 100 million
  • Knowledge of asphalt patching and surfacing seal construction.
  • Knowledge of COTO and FIDIC
  • Experience of SANRAL projects is preferable.
  • Experience with BSM construction is preferable
  • Must be computer literate in MS Outlook, MS Teams and MS Project


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Project Execution:

  • Review of tender documentation and drawings to be undertaken immediately upon appointment.
  • Management of site staff, including PLO, trainees and sub-consultants (materials laboratory, OH&S, EMP, etc.)
  • Report to the Contracts Engineer and liaise with main contractor
  • Responsible for monthly site, technical and PLC meetings
  • Responsible for monthly payment certificates.
  • Prepare and submit WAF for approval.
  • Apply the policies and procedures of SANRAL.
  • Monitor environmental compliance.
  • Record daily diaries of site progress.
  • Prepare monthly progress reports.
  • Applies, adheres, and manages site quality per ISO standards
  • Monitor and report daily on construction progress ensuring that the project remains within the budget and the construction program.
  • Monitor the quality of the roadworks and other works
  • Monitor all safety procedures and take decisions to safeguard all employees and the general public
  • Liaison with landowners, local authorities and communities
  • Prepare as-built drawings and close out report
