LOCATION: RUSTENBURG, NW The Rigger is responsible for the safe and efficient rigging of heavy equipment and materials during smelter rebuilds and other related construction projects. This role requires a high level of skill, precision, and safety awareness. The Rigger will work closely with other construction professionals to ensure all rigging tasks are completed on time and within the project specifications. •Rigging Operations: -Set up and operate rigging equipment to lift, move, and position heavy machinery, structural components, and other materials. •Safety Compliance: -Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment. -Conduct regular safety checks and inspections of rigging equipment. -Ensure that the correct tools are used to complete tasks -Ensure that all safety and legal requirements are carefully followed •Equipment Maintenance: -Inspect and maintain rigging equipment, including ropes, chains, slings, and hoists, ensuring they are in good working condition and up to standard. •Load Management: -Calculate load weights and determine the proper rigging equipment and methods to use. -Ensure loads are properly balanced and secured. •Collaboration: -Work closely with crane operators, engineers, and other construction personnel to coordinate rigging activities and ensure efficient workflow. -Co-ordinate maintenance activities with the Shift supervisor, to ensure that the operation is not effected or alternative plans need to be prepared -Communicate process problems to necessary people -Ensure effective two-way communications with team members •Problem-Solving: -Identify potential rigging hazards and implement solutions to mitigate risks. -Adapt rigging plans as necessary to address unforeseen challenges. •Documentation: -Maintain accurate records of rigging activities, equipment inspections, and safety checks. -Report on own Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). -Reports completed to required standard. •Governance -Contribute to project audits with regards to policies, procedures, and systems. •Physical Requirement: -Certificate of fitness and ability to work at heights, lift heavy loads, and perform manual labour for extended periods. •SHE Requirement -Site Specific Induction •Additional Requirements: -Valid rigging certification from a recognized South African authority. -Willingness to work extended hours, weekends and shut downs on various AAP as necessary to meet project deadlines. -Valid drivers license -Minimum of 5 years of rigging experience in the construction industry, preferably within smelter rebuilds or heavy industrial projects. -Strong understanding of rigging principles, load calculations, and the use of various rigging equipment. Familiarity with construction site safety regulations and standards. -Excellent hand-eye coordination, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings. -Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions from supervisors. •Qualifications: - Grade 12 or Technical Trade Specific N2 - Section 28 qualification from accredited MQA training centres or equivalent Market Related.
