Grade 12 / N6 · Blasting Certificate for scheduled Mines or a relevant trade certificate · Recognised Diploma / Degree in risk management, Science or related field qualification · Auditor and Outcomes-Based Assessment Assessor / Moderator · Risk Assessment Techniques: (Bowtie, SWOT, SWIFT, HAZOP and FMECA); Accident investigation (RCAT or SCAT) Mining industry experience of ten (10) years with minimum five (5) years' experience in the capacity of a Safety, Health, Risk Coordinator or management · Proven track record and ability to work strategically both within and external to the department · Knowledge of mining process, standards, procedures, safety and legal requirements · In-depth knowledge of MHSA legislation and its application as far as operational risk management is concerned Sound computer literacy, communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, coordination and stakeholder management, organisational and facilitation skills · Medical Certificate of Fitness · Must be punctual and be able to work well under pressure As our Risk Coordinator some of your responsibilities will include but not limited to: · Fully involve the relevant stakeholders in the risk management process by seeking their input and feedback on the identification, assessment and management of risks on the Mine i.e., Health and Safety Committees, Organised Labour Structures, Standards Committees, Full-Time Health and Safety Reps, WIM, Training, Line Supervisors, Employees, etc. · Establish the Eland Operation Baseline risk assessment, evaluation, analysis of potential risks and hazards associated with an Operations, activity, or system review, and update as per industry best practices i.e., periodically, legislation change/amendment, HPRI accident/incident, change of work force or change of plant/equipment, new/changed SOP, and Risk Assessments; evaluation and analysis of potential risks and hazards associated with a specific project, activity, or system · Establish a Critical Task (Job) Inventory Register and assess the risk associated with the Tasks /Jobs and conduct Job Hazard Analysis of each of the jobs in your Critical Job Inventory · Implement Bowties Risk management system for critical tasks, review, create, and enhance a proactive (leading) side of risk management, Identify control gaps, where additional controls may be warranted. Examining causes, consequences and the existing controls that address them helps to identify gaps in the current controls · Conduct and coordinate the Issue Based risk assessments, ad-hoc Risk Assessments, and Task Risk Assessments in order of criticality as identified in the Baseline Risk Assessment and critical task inventory register · Establish and review the Continuous Risk Assessment System and manage the critical control processes · Communicate according to the relevant levels of stakeholders all actions arising from the conducted recorded Risk Assessments and ensure required controls action plan is drawn up to ensure that actions arising from the assessments are allocated responsibilities and resources · Ensure that all OEM product / service risk assessments are scrutinized for methodology and technical content before the product or service is allowed to be tested or delivered in line with Section 21 of MHSA · Ensure that management of change processes and assessments are performed when notified of any change of equipment or processes within the operation, or when critical changes are observed on routine inspections and visits to working areas · Ensure that risk training content for relevant levels of occupations and stakeholders is specific, relevant, and up to date · Encourages and monitors the implementation of risk management operational-wide to be aligned, and linkage with main objectives, strategy, risk appetite, as well as in conformity to best risk management practices · Develop and affect the systematic application of operational risk management policies, procedures and practices at Eland Mine · Coordinate and perform operational risk identification and assessment in operational areas · Implement strategic plan to anticipate, prevent, eliminate and mitigate operational risks · Coordinate and manage operational risk analysis and develop key risk and control indicators · Coordinate with senior management in performing operational risk reviews · Track and monitor operating risk issues for the business divisions/units through regular audits and assessments · Report operational risk issues and decisions to senior management on regular basis · Assist in identifying and evaluating risk areas across the operational activities · Investigate root causes of operational risks and provide support to mitigate risk · Perform a SWOT analysis technique to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats in order to develop a strategic plan or roadmap projects and operations within the business Health, Safety & Environment · Demonstrate behaviour in line with health, safety, and environmental standards and with the Northam 's values · Participate in relevant safety audits, inspections and observations and address issues as part of demonstrating safety leadership People / Leadership: · Demonstrate behaviour in line with the Eland's Culture themes, standards and a professional workplace · Provide leadership to and develop the performance of your team in line with Eland's policies and systems (e.g., performance management, talent management) to achieve business goals.
