Sanitation Supervisor - Cape Town City Centre

Our client is looking for a Sanitation Supervisor to join their team. Provide direct supervision and leadership to the Sanitation team to ensure facility complies with Country regulatory and our client Sanitation / Food Safety / Quality requirements. Responsible for all aspects of Sanitation including the day-to-day management of sanitation associates to achieve required standards in a safe, efficient, and effective manner, and maintaining bakery equipment and facilities in a clean & sanitary manner and keeping all pertinent documentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure daily Housekeeping is done and paying special attention to detail cleaning.

  • Ensure Bakery is 100% clean before start-up - All equipment/areas are cleaned to standard.

  • Daily Detailed Plant inspection with Sanitation Service Provider before start-up.

  • Verification of cleaning after deep cleans.

  • Develop & Maintain Master Sanitation Schedule Plan and Cleaning standard operation procedures.

  • Scheduling of all Sanitation associates and assigning their duties per Annual Master Cleaning Plan.

  • Review the effectiveness of Bakery Sanitation Program on an annual basis and provide continuous improvement for the sanitation program.

  • Create a safe working environment for associate working in sanitation, maintain chemical safety procedures and MSDS's, work with chemical supplier to provide chemical handling training, provide leadership in enhancing chemical training beyond what chemical supplier provides, and meet all requirements of our client's Environmental, Health, and Safety program.

  • Perform monthly detail sanitation zone 1, 2, 3 and 4 inspections of the plant and follow-up on corrective and preventive inspection.

  • Handling of all Regulatory and requested Inspections including AIB, 3rd Party Customer Audit and GFSI etc.

  • Manage the Internal Cleaning and Sanitation Audit Program with Line Manager to ensure compliance to our client's Sanitation Program and Standard.

  • Initiate and execute cleaning verification and validation programs to prove effectiveness of Sanitation program.

  • Participate Risk Assessment for installation, construction, and other needs.

  • Recognize pest control problems, initiate corrective actions and follow-up.

  • Have all required documentation recorded and up to date.

  • Create and update SSOP's to ensure they are effective and efficient, and include the correct tools and approved chemicals, Nº of associates required for the task, frequency required, and the time of completion, Post sanitation check point.

  • Evaluate sequence of cleaning, adequacy of tools, chemicals, and frequency of cleaning activities to ensure they are adequate, keeping continuous improvements in mind.

  • Assisting with orientation of new associates.

  • KPI for sanitation department area maintain as assigned: 100% completion of MSS for Equipment and infrastructure, 100% Per-op Inspection on equipment and infrastructure, cleaning right the first time (Allergen, ATP on wash and dry clean area), increase trend compliance on Allergen, ATP, TPC, Coliform, listeria and salmonella.

  • 100% completion of CAPA (corrective action and prevention action) of all sanitation and audit related findings.

  • Identify and evaluate optimization opportunities in the cleaning activities.

  • Participating in weekly cross functional plant inspections, ensuring that sanitation shortages are corrected.

  • Participation in the HACCP team, workshops, and meetings.

  • Ensure and control the implementation of waste and pest control related programs.

  • Create Risk Assessment for installation, construction and maintenance of the Sanitation, Waste and Pest Management policy.

  • Recognize pest control problems, initiate corrective actions and follow-up.

  • Assist with coordinating and follow-up with environmental testing and corrective actions.

  • Managing contractors onsite and ensure contractors' compliance with SLA's, internal audits, orders, and training requirements.

  • Adhoc tasks as and when requested by the QS Management.
