Senior Casualty Treaty Underwriter Career Level 4 Company Munich Re Location Johannesburg , South Africa Your Business Unit: The Casualty & Credit Team develops and ensures the profitability of several reinsurance product lines such as Motor, Liability, Credit and Surety, Personal Accident in South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa. Your Team: The Casualty Treaty Team is a dynamic multi-disciplinary team of professionals from different backgrounds (Actuarial, Data analytics, Legal, Insurance and Risk management) who tackle the opportunities and challenges associated with pricing, assessing, monitoring and managing the Companies Motor, Liability and Personal Accidents treaty portfolio. You will join a group of pricing experts and actuarial analysts that form the pricing desk responsible for building and reviewing casualty pricing models and parameters and pricing large accounts. You will be reporting to the Operational Manager for Casualty, Cyber, Credits and Bonds. Your job: You will be responsible for the technical underwriting and pricing quality of Casualty Treaty business in the Sub-Saharan African markets directly and through brokers. You will: Contribute to conceiving and executing the lines of business, products and market strategies. Analyze insurance and reinsurance client and market data to develop models for pricing reinsurance products efficiently, especially for markets outside of South Africa and assessing their implications for the underwriting strategy and business opportunities. Guide the Casualty Treaty Team in technical issues in cooperation with Underwriting Management Ensure and develop technical know-how of the Casualty Treaty Team members. Develop traditional and non-traditional (re)insurance solutions. Participate in and lead client and broker negotiations in cooperation with Client Management. Contribute to opinion leadership on Casualty related topics in the market. Participate in regional or group wide working groups and projects; conduct seminars/workshops for internal and external clients. Your profile: University degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science or other insurance related fields Minimum 5-year treaty underwriting experience with focus on Casualty Treaty, detailed understanding of reinsurance and primary insurance, experience in developing traditional and non-traditional products.
