Robert Walters South Africa As a Senior Credit Risk Analyst, you will have a broad and impactful role, analysing data sets to identify factors correlated with credit risk outcomes and developing models to forecast consumer default likelihood. Your expertise will be crucial in integrating these models and data-driven approaches into operational processes to achieve better credit risk outcomes. Additionally, you will determine risk-based product pricing to meet profitability hurdles and collaborate with the finance team to build insights into customer profitability segments. You will also mentor and develop junior credit risk and data analysts, fostering a culture of analytical rigor and continuous improvement within the team. Your contributions will ensure robust and effective credit risk policies, optimizing profitability and driving financial success and expansion across Africa. Success in this role includes developing predictive credit risk models, improving credit risk outcomes, achieving targeted profitability metrics, mentoring junior analysts, updating provisioning models accurately, and deriving high-quality insights from complex data analysis. Key qualifications for the Senior Credit Risk Analyst : Master's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Actuarial Science, or a related field Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Credit Risk Analyst or in a similar role Strong experience developing predictive models for forecasting probability of default Experience and knowledge of provisioning approaches and calculation Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Excellent communication and collaboration skills Experience with programming languages such as Python or R Key duties for the Senior Credit Risk Analyst include but are not limited to : Scrutinize data sets to uncover variables and trends associated with credit risk outcomes using statistical methods to inform risk assessment and decision-making processes. Create sophisticated credit risk models based on rigorous statistical analysis and machine learning techniques to predict the probability of consumer default and improve the accuracy of credit risk assessments. Collaborate closely with operational teams to embed credit risk models and data-driven methodologies into daily processes. Enhance the effectiveness of credit risk management strategies and leading to improved outcomes and reduced defaults Set risk-based pricing for financial products to ensure they meet specified profitability targets by analysing risk levels and adjusting pricing structures to maintain a balance between competitiveness and financial sustainability. Generate detailed insights into different customer profitability segments by collaborating with the finance team and other relevant stakeholders. Maintain and update provisioning models to reflect the latest changes in credit risk. Regularly reviewing and adjusting models to provide adequate coverage against potential losses. Ensure that provisioning models are updated to sufficiently cover changing credit risk. Delve into complex data sets using SQL and other analytical tools to extract meaningful insights and detect trends. Support various business functions and contribute to the overall understanding of credit risk dynamics. Mentor and guide junior credit risk and data analysts, fostering their professional growth and enhancing their analytical capabilities through training, knowledge sharing, and encouraging a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team.
