Senior Development Engineer: Embedded Software - South Africa

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Employee will work as a Development Engineer: Systems, in the field of Autonomous Systems. The scope of work includes (but is not limited to) the following: a. Collaborate with system engineers to create system-level requirements, designs, implementations, and accompanying documentation; b. Collaborate with system engineers to devise system-level test cases, and procedures, and oversee their execution and reporting; c. Create tools to enhance the system engineering processes; d. Engage with COTS suppliers, explore system design and architecture using COTS products, evaluate and prototype them; e. Possibility of on-site involvement in design, verification, and support, including interactions with clients and integrators; f. Manage a functional system integration facility for comprehensive system-level integration and testing; g. Play a major role in the generation of outputs for projects, including design, testing, documentation, production, and verification artefacts; h. Implementation of system engineering processes, plans, and policies as applicable to a specific project; and i. Perform minor support roles within the company, as required. REQUIREMENTS: 2.1. Minimum Qualifications: a. Bachelor’s Degree in Electronic, Mechatronic, or Mechanical Engineering (BSc Eng/BEng or equivalent). 2.2. Required Skills and Experience: a. 2-5 years of relevant industry or postgraduate experience; b. Excellent problem-solving skills; c. Excellent interpersonal skills, both inside and outside the organisation; d. Logical thinker. 2.3. Recommended Skills and Experience: a. Master’s Degree in Mechatronic / Mechanical or Electronic Engineering (MSc Eng. / MEng). 2.4. General Skills: a. Ability to learn quickly and absorb new information rapidly; b. Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate on large projects; c. Ability to work independently; d. Strong problem-solving skills; e.
