Senior Electrical Designer - Oil & Gas Industry - Secunda Job Description Technical Design Ability - Guides and coaches others to achieve a high standard in technical design using company and Client design methods, industry standards, and data in line with Project requirements. Technical Expertise -Possesses proficient levels of technical expertise required to do the job, however continuously work towards improving and updating technical abilities. Will personally seek out opportunities to develop a technical knowledge base. Responsible for checking models and deliverables. Provides support to Engineers and feedback. Continuous Improvement - Working through training objectives and continuous improvement schedule via in-house and external training opportunities. Analytical thinking - Ability to identify issues, obtain relevant information, relate and compare data from different sources, and identify alternative solutions. Communication - Ability to present information to individuals or groups; ability to deliver presentations suited to the characteristics and needs of the audience. Ability to convey information clearly and concisely to groups or individuals either verbally or in writing to endure that they understand the information and the message. Ability to listen and respond appropriately to others. Decision making - Knowledge of and ability to use effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions and/or reaching conclusions. Cross Discipline Project Team Interaction - Proactively works with other discipline designers/engineers. Working with lead engineer and other discipline leads at project meetings, internal/external and client resolving issues. Responsibilities Application of client specifications and local/international standards to electrical designs Site information gathering and as-building of existing drawings SP3D modeling of cable racks, earthing, L&SP and HAC Participate in plot plan and SP3D model reviews 30%, 60% and 90% Cable rack sizing and cable rack and route and trenching design drawings Earthing and lightning protection design drawings Lighting and small power layout design drawings and single-line diagrams Hazardous area classification design drawings Overall and protection single line diagram design drawings Substation equipment layout design drawings Integration of electrical design with civil, mechanical, piping, and C&I Produce MTO and BOQ’s Input into E&I installation contract and bid evaluations FAT electrical bulk materials Site visits and support during installation EOJ as-building Qualifications: National Diploma (NQF Level 6) Minimum of 8 years Knowledge, skills, and experience: SmartPlant SP3D SPEL MicroStation DIALUX Hazardous Area Classifications Electrical Construction experience Apply Now
