The Engineering Division assumes responsibility for ensuring the efficient repair and preventive maintenance of the company's plant and equipment. This role necessitates managing the engineering division for the Cape Town region. A pivotal aspect of the position involves assessing and establishing optimal repair techniques, while also furnishing cost analyses for repair services and fabricated components. Moreover, the Engineering Division takes charge of the Group's development and expansion initiatives. The Senior Engineering Manager's duties encompass overseeing ten distinct artisan departments, collectively employing over 150 personnel. Each of these departments is under the guidance of its respective manager. The company often engages external service providers, independent entities contributing specialised skills or additional resources to complement the in-house team. These providers, who work closely with the engineering team, are responsible for managing relationships and services. Within the Engineering Division, a team of engineers, led by the Engineering Divisional Director—a mechanical engineer—oversees operations. Artisan department managers report to the engineers within the team. The new Engineering Manager will join this collective, reporting directly to the Engineering Divisional Directors. TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS ROLE, CANDIDATES SHOULD MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA: Hold a recognised qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering from a reputable University or Technikon. Possess at least 8 to 10 years of pertinent work experience within a demanding industrial manufacturing setting, actively contributing as a practicing engineer. Demonstrate at least 5 years of managerial experience within operational environments, underscoring the ability to lead effectively. Exhibit essential diagnostic skills and a penchant for logical thinking. The capacity to make sound decisions promptly, even under pressure, is highly valued.
