Job & Company Description: In the role of senior Java developer you will work with a team of 10-12 developers that take on new development initiatives and platform enhancements across the company and the associated portfolio of brand properties. You will be responsible for front-end development and client-side interactions using Java Server Pages, HTML, XHTML, CSS, XML, JavaScript, AJAX/jQuery and other related interactive technologies. Responsibilities include manage a small team of developers that will take guidance and direction from you. Manage the full technical life-cycle of our Java web applications during each development phase. Collaborate with team members to brainstorm about new products, provide each other with technical insight and review working drafts. Document and maintain design specifications, source code, and archives for new applications and ideas (we use JIRA and Confluence) Education: BSC Computer Science and any other IT related tertiary level qualifications. Job Experience & Skills Required: Min 8 years of overall software development in Java, JEE and web-development. Proficient with Eclipse/MyEclipse IDE, Tomcat, Git and Linux Strong desire to solve complex user problems in the space of social commerce. Strong Java (1.7 or later), JSP, HTML, XHTML, DHTML, CSS, XML programming skills Have development expertise in both a Web (MVC, HTML, JSP, Servlets) and back end environment (JDBC, XML, Webservices etc) Have hands on experience doing application performance tuning both at an application server and code level (solid understanding of JVM tuning) Expert knowledge and experience with a leading application database product such as PostgresSQL (expert skill in creating complex database queries, stored procedures etc). Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements Familiarity with cloud message APIs and push notifications A knack for benchmarking and optimization A high level of Linux proficiency.
