Our client in the Engineering industry is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Materials and Pavement Engineer to join our dynamic team in Cape Town. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Roads/Highways section with various tasks including materials investigations, pavement engineering tasks, preparation of tender documents, and contract administration of projects. The role may require travelling within South Africa or potentially in Africa. Requirements: A minimum of a BSc or B Eng degree in Civil Engineering. Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration (non-negotiable). A Master’s degree in Pavement Engineering will be advantageous. A valid driver’s licence is essential. Proficiency in MS Office Suite and MS Project (non-negotiable). Strong technical skills in AutoCAD, Civil3D, Rubicon, and HDM4. Minimum of 10 years experience in a similar role. Experience in developing innovative technical solutions. Experience in guiding and mentoring junior staff. Senior project management experience. Client liaison experience. Responsibilities: Materials Investigations: Manage small tenders for survey and soil laboratories. Plan and execute BP investigations and centreline surveys. Conduct general trial pitting and liaise with soil laboratories. Draft materials report(s). Pavement Engineering Tasks: Conduct visual inspection of gravel and surfaced roads. Assist in pavement and pavement rehabilitation design. Analyse materials results and perform pavement analysis. Assist with traffic data collection and subsequent analysis. Conduct economic analysis. Tender Documents: Assist in the preparation of tender documents. Contract Administration: Administer contracts for various projects.
