Diagnoses and treats a variety of diseases and injuries by performing the following duties: Elicits and records information about patient's medical history. Signing of certificates of fitness: - Examine employees as per legal requirements - Sign all certificates as per legal requirements - List of certificates to be signed by OMP: PDP seafarers (SAMSA registration), divers (DOL qualification), pilots (aviation medical qualification), construction workers who work on heights, suspended platforms and drive machinery, all employees who have previously been declared unfit and are again fit for work Disability assessment (ADHOC): - Client specific procedure - Ensure procedure has been clarified with client - Do assessment - Get info from own doctor, client as necessary - Do walkthrough of workplace when required - Write report to client, copy in file. Proper notes in file Absenteeism assessment (ADHOC): - Client specific procedure - Ensure procedure has been clarified with management - Get copies of sick notes, absenteeism record - Evaluate - Consult client, employees' own doctor as required - Write report to client, copy in file, ensure proper notes - Ensure confidentiality and obtain consent where needed Walkthroughs: - Regular walkthroughs to be done – can be part of HRA process - Report to be written after each walkthrough Monthly report: - Monthly report template - Discuss monthly report requirements each month with sister - Write doctor's comments each month Annual report: - Write an annual report for each client as per template where required Client meeting: - To regularly attend client meetings as per requirement - Discuss problems, trends identified, give recommendations Injuries and Occupational Disease: - Investigate all possible occupational diseases - Ensure that Occupational Injuries and diseases are reported to the Compensation Commissioner, RMA, MBOD - Report major incidents and occupational disease to the Chief Inspector / DOL / DMR - Ensure all appropriate forms are filled in timeously. Medicine control: - Sign schedule 3, 4 register - Check appropriateness and correctness of medicine given, give training where necessary - Fill in 56 (6) form – authority for the self-dispensing nurse after evaluation of clinical practice of the nurse - Signing of medicine order on monthly basis- appropriate according to SOS, only formulary, within budget - Write motivation where medicine not on formulary is used - Monthly pharmacology training for each sister as per KPI - Agree to apply for a site license where applicable Evaluation of OHNP clinical practice: - check completion of everything, abnormalities that need to be investigated, do spot checks to check accuracy of findings - Evaluate files primary healthcare consultations- adequate recordkeeping, appropriate treatment - Audio- quality check, all files PLH 5 and above to be seen by OMP, appropriate action to be recommended, sign off audio's - Spiro- quality check to be done, all abnormal results to be seen by doctor, sign off - Physical examination- regular spot checks to ensure correctness - Monthly in-service training Emergency management: - Examine and treat injured employees as necessary - Ensure an emergency preparedness plan has been drawn up for each clinic - Do an emergency risk assessment - Identify all emergency procedures necessary - Have a valid BLS/CPR certificate - Ensure regular desk top and emergency simulations are done - Do regular emergency training with staff. Primary healthcare (On appointment basis, where OHNP needs OMP assistance): - See and treat PHC as per SLA/ SOS.
