Requirements: Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse Post basic qualification in ICU will be beneficial 6-month short learning program in ICU 2-3 years management or supervisor / shift leading experience in ICU will be advantageous Clinical knowledge of ICU essential Computer literacy Capacity to implement and maintain standards of health practice required from all accredited bodies and appropriate health legislation Flexible n working hours/shifts The main purpose of this position: The role of a Senior Professional Nurse is to function as a competent clinical practitioner within their designated clinical area and to deliver direct patient care whilst co-ordinating and overseeing the nursing/ICU practice To deputise for the ICU Manager in his / her absence, driving forward evidence-based practise and taking responsibility for the supervision of staff and the policies and practices that operate within their clinical area Duties & Responsibilities: Practice patient care according to the Scope of Practice and assume total responsibility for these activities In conjunction with the Unit Manager be responsible for the day-today supervision of ICU teams, effectively motivating, and directing staff to ensure that time and resources are managed through effective teamwork To deputise for the Unit Manager when necessary To assist the Unit Manager in the management of staff within their unit including specific induction, recruitment and selection, training, performance management, sickness / absence appraisals Ensure the continuous training takes place in ICU
