Position: Senior PHP Developer Location: Cape Town About the role: Seeking a PHP Developer to Build the Future with Us (Cape Town) Are you a passionate PHP developer with a knack for solving problems and building high performing web applications? If you thrive in fast-paced, collaborative environment and have 5 years of experience, we want to hear from you Responsibilities: • Craft clean, well-architected code that follows the latest industry best practices. • Develop and maintain cutting-edge web applications using Laravel. • Enhance and optimize existing code for peak performance and scalability. • Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to create high quality products quickly. • Troubleshoot, test, and maintain applications and databases for optimal functionality. • Tackle complex performance issues and architectural chalenges head-on. • Share your coding wisdom through code reviews and mentorship. • Write documentation that keeps everyone on the same page. • Contribute to all stages of the development lifecycle. • Champion improvements to product quality, security, and performance. • Identify and solve bottlenecks that hinder our efficiency as a team. • Write unit and acceptance tests to ensure code quality. • Stay ahead of the curve by learning new trends and best practices. Minimum requirements: • 5 years of experience as a PHP developer. • Matric is essential. • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a similar field is a plus, but not mandatory. • Expertise in PHP, HTML5, JavaScript, and jQuery. • Experience with Laravel and other PHP MVC frameworks. • A strong grasp of object-oriented programming in PHP. • Excellent knowledge of relational databases, especially MySQL. • Solid understanding of Git and version control. • In-depth knowledge and experience with API development and JSON web services. • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure providers, preferably AWS. • Competent in: WebSocket, PHP, Laravel, HTML, jQuery, JavaScript, JSON, GIT, AP, AWS Skills: • Top-notch communication skills, both written and verbal. • A passion for problem-solving and a willingness to get your hands dirty. • The ability to clearly explain complex technical concepts and propose solutions. • Experience tackling performance and optimization challenges. • A positive and solution-oriented attitude. • A track record of owning projects from start to finish. • Self-motivation, excellent organization skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively.
