The core responsibilities include: Critical analysis of systems and their performance to eliminate repetitive defects and to enhance overall asset reliability To learn and be a key custodian of the RIM-SYS system within in the areas To identify, investigate, motivate and implement changes related to the safe and effective performance of the various machine centers To work closely with the Maintenance Planner to ensure that equipment reliability aspects are “locked” into the various machine checks and inspections To provide assistance as required to the first line maintenance team, especially in the event of significant breakdowns, and play an active management role during shuts, assisting the Maintenance Co-ordinator in managing the shut workload To maintain a level of expertise associated with ensuring that equipment/system obsolescence issues are dealt with timeously Complete Failure analyses on all breakdowns and planned corrective maintenance Generates a monthly top ten failures report and action plan to rectify Does RCM analyses on the problem areas and propose Preventative or Predictive Maintenance Schedules Identifies training needs and Training providers to improve the skill base, mentor apprentices or trainee Technicians Analyse Failures and compile data to Focus on repeat problems Design out problems To advise on equipment/software etc that would assist in executing their function Project manage small projects related to their investigations Remains in touch with technology and advises on possible improvements with current systems Performs a Standby duty in the plant to ensure that downtime is managed and minimised Performs Incident Investigations and completes the required documentation and notifications Minimum requirement is a National Diploma in Engineering, preferably a B-tech or Degree in Engineering. Root cause and fault-finding experience Knowledge of manufacturing principles Equipment capability and maintenance knowledge and experience Excellent computer, report writing and presentation skills Clear leadership qualities with the ability to co-ordinate maintenance tasks, shutdowns and project work The ability to work in a manufacturing team and interface with all members of the team
