Senior Retail Operations Manager - Nelspruit

SPAR Lowveld, a division of The SPAR Group Ltd. is recruiting for a Senior Retail Operations Manager at its Distribution Centre, located in Nelspruit. The position is responsible for ensuring growth and profitability of the SPAR Lowveld retailers and DC managed stores across multiple brand channels as well as delivering Distribution Centre budgets. The role is both strategic and analytical whilst liaising between SPAR Distribution Centre and SPAR Retailers in his / her assigned portfolio. Key Performance Areas: Establishing and maintaining a sound business relationship with retailers. Providing “hands on” assistance to retailers to ensure profitability and growth in their businesses. Regularly providing a business consultative service to all assigned retailers and setting/coordinating action plans to improve the performance of underperforming stores. Being the link between the Distribution Centre and the retailer's business. Providing leadership and business strategies to Retail Operations Managers and service department specialists. Maintaining expected SPAR standards. Implement DC, Retail and Group strategic objectives. Efficient management of the operations team and ensuring the achievement of DC and Retail key performance indicators. Keeping abreast with the latest food retail trends and competitive activity. Provide support and maintaining a close working relationship with Development and New Business Departments. Provide leadership in the corporate stores and DC managed stores. Develop and manage income and expense budgets for stores. Take on special project rollouts across stores from time to time. Matric or equivalent qualification. Business related tertiary qualification advantageous. 5 Years Retail Management experience at ROM / DC level with high level of Retail business knowledge. 5 Years of recent retail store management experience. Completion of Management Growth Programme advantageous. Understanding of retail management accounting and administrative principles. Sound knowledge of Easy Accounts accounting program - advantageous. Sound knowledge of Retail legal / business requirements and compliance. Excellent business acumen and operational financial skills. High level of knowledge of SIGMA retail management computer systems. Be well acquainted with retail operations across the different Socio-Economic Measures and in all SPAR formats. Goal directed and objective driven individual. Innovative and enthusiastic. Sound understanding of retail in neighbouring countries - advantageous. Excellent communication (written and verbal), presentation and conflict management skills. Ability to listen, consult, motivate, encourage, and influence others.
