Senior SCADA Engineer - Pele Energy Group - Sandton

The Role Pele Green Energy is seeking a talented, highly motivated, and self-driven Senior SCADA Engineer. / SCADA Manager. The Senior SCADA Engineer will report directly to the Head of Energy Operations, forming part of the Engineering division, and will be responsible for the full SCADA team, all technical queries, designs and implementation of SCADA systems in all phases of project life cycle, and maintenance and upgrades of existing systems within the Pele portfolio. The Senior SCADA Engineer will fully responsible for the day to day operation of the Pele Green Energy Control Centre. Job Responsibilities Some of your key tasks will include but not be limited to: Overseeing all SCADA requirements for PV, BESS and Wind power plants Approving datasheets related to materials and components selected by subcontractors. Translating contractual obligations into technical requirements and SCADA design. Compiling specifications, scope of works, bill of materials and evaluating standards for SCADA systems. Providing technical advisory and support to Project Development , Sales, Project Management, Project Purchasing & Logistics, Engineering, Construction Management and Commissioning. Interacting and coordinating with Consultants, Suppliers and Subcontractors to ensure compliant project execution. Ensuring contractual schedule and payment milestones are achieved, including the preparation and compilation of design packages and tracking thereof. Responsible for the conceptual design, development, implementation and maintenance of the Local Control Center based at Pele Head Office. Preparation of quarterly and annual budgets for the SCADA division and monthly tracking and updating of all budget variance. Monthly reporting of all operational activities to the Business Unit for integration into Exco reporting. Completing the drafting of technical drawings such as; wiring diagrams and SLD. Supporting the implementation of the SCADA system and associated equipment from kick-off to handover. Drafting Design reports and Technical Descriptions. Providing onsite commissioning support. Support and witnessing of F.A.T's and S.A.T's IT Industrial Networking Hardware: cabling schedules, electrical requirements, specifications for Firewalls, Time Servers, Battery Backup systems, Power Distribution Units, Switches, Routers. Demonstrated expertise with distributed network systems, VPN and common network interfaces. Demonstrated expertise with Plant Layouts and Network Architectures. Demonstrated expertise with Virtual Machines, Servers, Industrial PC's. Demonstrated expertise with Utility and Client interconnections (Suck as Eskom for Grid Code Compliance). Full understanding of Fiber Optic Networks. Create and evaluate IP Address configurations lists (Host and addresses). Firewall Selections and Configurations. Cyber Security implementations and understanding of IT. Internet requirements and specifications for local and remote systems. Server Rack designs and implementations. Documentation: Drawings, User Manuals, Configurations and configuration files and updates. Ability to configure devices for integration of hardware and software. Secure Remote Access to systems. Cloud technologies such as and not limited to Docker, Kubernetes Familiar with various Linux Ditro's and working in terminal. OT (Operational Technology) Demonstrated expertise with Plant Layouts. Demonstrated expertise with integration of CCTV systems. Cyber Security implementation and understanding on OT. Demonstrated expertise with industrial instrumentation, automation, PLC's , machine control, HMI Met Station Cloud camera, micro grid controller and communication protocols like IEC-101, IEC-104, IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-101, MODBUS, NTP, SNMP, DNP and OPC, TCP/IP interfaces. LoRa, Zigbee and similar wireless communication technologies Demonstrated expertise with Substation device integration such as IED integrations. Demonstrated expertise with Resource Forecasting Services. Security Access Control of systems. Digital and Analogue signal acquisition Demonstrated expertise with PV Plant equipment such as Inverters, DC Combiner Boxes, Substation Equipment, Plant Controllers, meteorological systems, PV Trackers. Creation and management of Signal Lists for Systems. Field Equipment Enclosures and integrations. Familiar with ICS - Industrial Control Systems. Protocols and Media converter devices. Field Device configuration, installation, testing. Data Historization systems. Requirements BSC Electrical/Electronic as Engineer with focus on industrial controls or SCADA engineering 3-5 years of experience in Automation or Scada and Plant control in a renewable Energy context Previous experience in commissioning of SCADA systems for PV / BESS / Wind Familiarity with the relevant standards such as IEEE, IEC, SANS and other regulations Experience with existing SCADA Systems on the market Proficiency with MS Project, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint and SharePoint with experience presenting to stakeholders and / or Senior Leadership Proven ability to demonstrate a drive for results and accountability of business needs. Proven ability to work in an ambiguous environment and collaborate across multiple areas in order to achieve a common business objective. Interpersonal skills to influence and spur change, facilitate and enhance performance within a cross - functional environment. Demonstrate decisiveness in resolving business problems, making decisions and identifying priorities. Excellent planning and time management skills. Excellent leadership abilities.
