We are a leading solar energy provider specializing in residential solar PV installations across South Africa. We are looking for a Senior Solar PV Engineer to join our growing team and lead the design, engineering, and implementation of solar PV systems for residential customers. This role involves mentoring and empower a small team of engineers, providing technical expertise throughout all stages of project development, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality solar energy solutions. Responsibilities: Lead the assessment of residential properties for solar PV system feasibility, conducting detailed site surveys, shading analysis, and electrical infrastructure evaluations. Develop innovative and cost-effective solar PV system designs tailored to meet the energy needs and preferences of residential customers, utilizing advanced design software tools. Oversee the preparation of comprehensive engineering drawings, specifications, and equipment lists for residential solar PV installations, ensuring compliance with local codes and regulations. Collaborate with the sales team to support customer consultations, offering technical insights, recommendations, and solutions to address customer requirements. Manage the procurement process for solar PV equipment and materials, including vendor selection, negotiation, and inventory management. Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and installation teams, guiding them through complex design challenges and installation issues. Conduct thorough quality inspections and performance testing of completed solar PV installations, ensuring systems meet industry standards and customer expectations. Stay abreast of the latest developments in solar PV technology, industry trends, and regulatory requirements, integrating new advancements into project designs and processes. Maintain accurate project documentation and records, including design files, installation reports, and customer communications. Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to drive continuous improvement initiatives and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of residential solar PV projects. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field. Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in designing and implementing solar PV systems, with a focus on residential projects. In-depth knowledge of solar PV system design principles, including PV module selection, inverter sizing, and electrical layout optimization. Proficiency in solar PV design software such as PVsyst, Helioscope, or equivalent. Strong understanding of South African electrical codes and regulations, with experience navigating permitting and regulatory approval processes. Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders. Proven project management experience, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage resources, and deliver projects on time and within budget.
