The VOIP Support Engineer will be responsible for configuration, maintenance of all the Converged communication systems and infrastructure including the video conferencing facilities. •Asterisk and FreePBX administration and configuration experience. •Ability to program in Perl or shell scripts with respect to Asterisk automation and IVR and dial plan configuration. •Ability to solve problems and create solutions independently. Although there are other staff, most work is done by one engineer on their own. •Have experience providing professional IT support to business. •MySQL and Postgres Database administration experience with respect to high availability clusters and routine maintenance. •Install/Upgrade VoIP servers when required •Provide 1st & 2nd line support for client reported issues • 5 Years' experience in a similar role • A strong understanding of Linux and Asterisk is essential. • Understanding of the TCP/IP networking suite, and be familiar with IP routing protocols including SIP, IAX, RTP, H.323 • Familiar with the codecs used for encoding voice traffic in an IP network and router/modem hardware. • SIP Hard & Softphones experience. • Configuring handsets • Administration of Video-conferencing facilities. •Conduct quality assurance. •Organisational abilities. •Good communication skills, both written and verbal. •Good customer service skills. •Self-motivated. •Result driven. •Creative problem solving. •Team player. •Attention to detail. •Emotionally intelligent. •Strong analysis and troubleshooting skills and experience. •Exposure to security concepts / best practices. •Expertise with load balancing and network monitoring / troubleshooting tools.
