This position involves working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient and effective legal compliance and maintaining MPRDA survey legal compliance. Key to this role will be ensuring survey data's accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness. The successful candidate will be expected to: Primary Responsibilities: Achieving legal compliance (Survey), Maintaining MPRDA survey legal compliance, and Issuing survey instructions and notifications. Maintaining DMR plans and monthly reporting according to standard. Preparing mine plans (Survey) and ensuring the availability of electronic production Survey plans. Provides the quantity and level of survey support required for operations to ensure timely, accurate survey reporting and advice is given for reconciliations and control (e.g., ore/overburden, stockpile movements, engineering, drilling, and tenements). Assists with engineering project design, supervision, and control. Contributes to the achievement of operational targets and strategic my plans. Creates accurate and timely budgets and forecasts for the survey section with consideration of future risks. Actively participates in planning and review meetings, translating agreed strategies into survey implementation plans, directing the successful completion of group-related projects, and demonstrating leadership as a part of the departmental team. Oversees the management of all survey data including computer systems and drawings. Ensures adherence to legislative requirements (corporate governance reporting requirements, regulatory compliance, codes of practice). Implements best practices in survey technology to improve accuracy, timeliness, and cost. Broad understanding of all mining activities, capable of covering other portfolios. Supervises and provides day-to-day technical leadership to an assigned group. Participates in the recruitment, training, coaching, and performance management of designated employees. Ensures delivery of planned tasks and activities, making decisions on routine problems, methodology, and resourcing issues. Provides expertise in all aspects of surveying and acts as SME. Uses knowledge of surveying principles and practices to continually improve the group's efficiency and effectiveness. Plans, schedules, and coordinates people, equipment, and resources to ensure availability in line with planned activities. Participates in developing and modifying surveying methods, tools processes/standards, and ensures budget compliance. Provide technical advice to various parties to address problems in a timely way. Plays a lead role in research, acquisition, and implementation of technologies Compares and contrasts major technologies available in the marketplace. Surveying Equipment Knowledge of survey equipment and its use; ability to select and utilize the correct equipment in different technical situations to generate relevant and accurate information to support business decision-making. Level Expertise: Leads the evaluation of all major types of surveying equipment used it the company's operations; identifies and recommends improvements to meet business needs and define policies, and practices more effectively, and guidelines for equipment installation, utilization, and support. Monitors industry/marketplace trends and directions in the survey equipment: cites relevant case studies in proposals to improve efficiency, costs, or outcomes for the business Manages, monitors, and continuously improves the organization's survey equipment utilization, support, and performance effectiveness Defines competence standards and oversees the development of training and competence assurance of staff in the use and maintenance of survey equipment Raises awareness across the organization of the impact of effective equipment selection, utilization, and management of the bottom line. Ensure state-of-the-art techniques and software, XPAC, ArcGIS, MicroStation, Model maker, scanning, and aerial survey software were used. Managing People Knowledge of people development processes and ability to utilize these in the recruitment, training, coaching, and empowering of team members to maximize individual and team performance. Level Mastery: Assembles teams with complementary skills and promotes the expectation that they will share knowledge and experience, coach, and learn from one another. Champions staff development and ensures all staff in their area of responsibility have development plans and regular development discussions in line with the organizations' process and timetable. Ensures that developmental resources (e.g., assignments, self-development tools, coaching and mentoring, training) and time are available to all staff in line with their development plans. Mentor employees to promote their learning and development, transferring accumulated knowledge and expertise. Identifies mission-critical competency areas needed to meet business unit or functional goals and takes active steps to review capability and address competency gaps. Identifies high-potential individuals and provides them with targeted opportunities for growth. Managing Safety Knowledge of the factors that support and drive strong Health and safety culture and performance; ability and desire to maintain and continuously improve SHE awareness and practice and inspire the same in others. Level Expertise: Ensures SHE is given a high priority in business strategy and decision-making and the setting of business priorities and goals. Proactively shapes individual and group values, attitudes, and behaviors to support developing and maintaining a strong SHE culture. Promotes and enables a high level of employee involvement in and open communication regarding Health and Safety matters within the business. Communicates the path by which Tronox Safety goals can be accomplished and specifies the timeframe for those goals to be achieved. Ensures the provision of adequate resources to maintain and continuously improve SHE culture and performance across the business. Ensures regular and independent auditing of safety systems and performance, obtaining objective feedback to enable continuous improvement. Mine Survey Support Continuous collaboration software knowledge is required. Ensure mine compliance with the MHSA. Support MRD and line with discipline-related technical inputs. Assist with the compilation of monthly tonnage reconciliations. Reconcile between short-term planning models vs. actual surveyed data section of the mine. Assist in generating short-term planning schedules and forecasts. Qualifications & Requirements NH Dip: Mine Surveying (Essential/Minimum) BTech Mine Surveying (Recommended/Desirable) Mine Surveyors GCC Legal Knowledge (Essential/Minimum) MDP (Essential/Minimum) Minimum of 7 Years Experience in mine surveying Mine Surveyors GCC Part A (Recommended/Desirable) Valid Code 8 driver's license Registered as a member with IMMSSA and/or SAGC (South African Geomatics Counsel/Society) Apply Now
