Reference: E.L002218-BG-1 Opportunity Available Our leading client in the Manufacturing Sector is looking to employ a SHE Manager to join their dynamic team in Cape Town (Wellington). Job Description: HIRA: Ensure all facilities have HIRA's in place. Ensure compliance to the legal requirements (OHSAct, NEMA, & other related legislation) and develop measures to address/mitigate risks Review and approve any Modifications, Work Programs, & Authorizations for production facilities ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification: Maintaining certification for the organisation/site Compile, review and audit of procedures and systems Ensure closing of findings after certification audits Undertake audits & inspections of site facilities Emergency Preparedness: Participate in Emergency exercises for the site Respond to all emergencies, as required and be on standby Ensure all plants have emergency plans, coordinators in place Compliance to SHE Management system: Conduct audits and inspections of plants to ensure compliance & conformance Perform planned task observations at the plants Non-conformances and deviations are identified and corrected Unsafe acts and conditions identified and reported to management using the CAR system Improvement of Safety standards for the site Incident Management: Investigate incidents for the site. Reporting of incidents to Department of Labour Compile incident investigation reports, as per company reporting standards Communication and Awareness: Coordinate the effective functioning of SHE meetings. Issue Safety Alerts & Infograms relating to SHE. Investigate and follow up on complaints from employees, as well as from outside the company Communicate legal updates to the relevant plants and management Compile SHE related KPI's and statistics and report to management Legal: Ensure the site & its plants have all Permits, licenses, certificates, authorizations required to operate (“Licence to operate”). Ensure compliance to the requirements of any permits, licenses, certificates or authorizations. Ensure Legal compliance audits are conducted and all findings addressed for the site/plants Ensure that all legal appointments are up to date Ensure SHE mandatory training is conducted Effective contractor management at the site Health: Ensure an effective occupational & primary health service is rendered to the site Oversee the Clinics and ensure that the Clinic adheres to all legal requirements Environmental: Ensure adherence to the relevant site permit requirements Ensure a Waste Management Plan is in place Ensure conservation management plan is in place and updated Effective management of environmental aspects & impact of the site People: Performance management of reportees & contractors Manage timekeeping and leave of reportees Change management representative Effective communication within department and demonstrate leadership Financial Management: Manage OPEX budget Plan for CAPEX as required and manage project Job Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Environmental or Safety Management (safety management preferred). ISO 14001 &ISO 45001 Implementation. SAMTRAC would be advantageous. At least 5-8 years' relevant experience in the management of safety, health, quality and environmental management within a medium to large organization of which 3 years should have been in staff management, performance management and leadership. Experience within a chemical/petrochemical environment will be advantageous. Knowledge of all relevant statutory acts and regulations. An in-dept understanding and working knowledge of safety, health and environmental legislation, in particular the OHS Act, National Environmental Management Act and related Regulations. Experience & knowledge of Explosives Regulations would be advantageous. Experience in the development and roll out of behaviour-based safety programs. General knowledge of Occupational health and Hygiene requirements. The ability to liaise and communicate with various internal and external stakeholders. Good Planning, integration and resources management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills including meeting facilitation and presentation. Interpersonal skills and ability to effectively collaborate with multiple disciplines both internally and externally. Ability to operate and communicate on all levels and within the corporate environment. Networking skills and an established network within the professional SHE management field as well as other authorities. Fundamental computer literacy: MS Office packages (Excel, Word, Outlook), online collaboration tools, e.g., WebEx meetings. Clear Security Screening record.
