Well known manufacturer and supplier of metal products who are SABS registered has a position for a "SHEQ Manager". This position is based in Germiston, Industries West. Working experience MUST include metal forging or press or furnace or foundry experience Matric National Diploma in Quality Management or higher, diploma Minimum 3- 5 years SHE process experience within the manufacturing industry Working experience MUST include metal forging or press or furnace or foundry experience Based in Germiston and reporting to the Production Manager. Appropriate SHE qualifications and previous practical experience within an industrial engineering/manufacturing environment in both safety and operational roles, together with a thorough knowledge of statutory OHSACT/SHE requirements, standards and audit procedures (including best operating practices) ISO specialist working knowledge Strong knowledge of raw materials and moulding equipment Experience in the development and implementation of safety programs and the ability to influence senior management in a multi-cultural environment regarding strategy delivery, change leadership, information sharing and performance through people.” Quality Assurance Functions Manage the responsibility of maintaining and improving the Quality Management System (QMS) throughout the industrial product-manufacturing factory Apply knowledge and experience relating to QA in terms of the hot working, forging and pressing of steel products to ensure adherence to company manufacturing standards Review and understand the various manufacturing processes and compare, identify and improve QA activities within the factory to prevent defective results. This will entail process mapping, process capability studies and the monitoring of key production processes to ensure that they are aligned with the overall business strategy, and that corrective action is implemented where required Establish a clearly defined QMS that is understandable and can be applied by all production staff, as well as analyse and improve QA processes to enable the factory to deliver on its strategy Set up and maintain all QA control and documentation systems collate and analyse product and process performance data against defined parameters and assess product quality against manufacturing specifications and customer requirements. Monitor and evaluate training programs, processes and workflows for quality and effectiveness; make recommendations for improvement Ensure compliance with SANAS standards Health & Safety Functions Applying the basic requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 85/1993. Maintain, as far as reasonably practicable, a work environment that is safe and without risk to the health of the workers Develop and implement SHE plans and standards aligned to business strategies and objectives, and monitor the effectiveness of the implementation throughout the business. Ensure that manufacturing operations implement the required standards in order to obtain and retain certification for all facilities Ensure compliance with all legislative, regulatory, Company standards throughout all operations, and assist Management to identify SHE risks in order to reduce the overall risk of SHE issues Utilise change management principles and enable effective communication of all SHE-related issues and/or SHE project roll-outs, and ensure SHE competencies for manufacturing operations are identified and gaps closed Investigate, develop and improve existing SHE standards, systems and procedures by adopting and implementing safe operating practices (SOP's), OHS Act, and ensure that the SHE function provides expertise and tools to enable the business to comply with all legislative and safety requirements Provide professional input and support to manufacturing operations regarding all incidents, recommend corrective actions and ensure the effective close-out of all actions Dealing with work-related injuries and diseases as well as the prevention, protection and promotion of the health of workers Desired Skills: health and safety OHS Act production QMS quality SHEQ forging Employer & Job Benefits: Basic salary medical aid provident fund bonus
