Job posting end date: 29 March 2024 JOB TITLE: SENIOR MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Technician to join our team of Technicians. You will be responsible for executing technical activities at customer sites. Providing feedback on customer satisfaction, technology / equipment / service performance and production improvement activities relating to the products being supported. This position is responsible for providing Metso customers with professional technical support for its products. This position will coordinate and work closely with the LCS Management Teams to assure a common understanding/application of technical support and information to support and provide excellent customer service on Metso Equipment. The main application for this position will be that of hands-on Senior Mechanical Technician on a day-to-day level focused on Service and Capex Project Support. This role will include administrative functions over and above the technical application of Senior Mechanical Technician skills. In this position, you will report to the Manager LCS SAF East. This position is mainly located at the Rustenburg, Northwest Province. TEAM YOU BELONG TO You will join a team of Technicians that strive to effectively deliver a seamless experience, that delivers a "technical solution" that meets the customer's needs, thus supporting the sales team to, to enhance and build relationships with the downstream effect on sales realisation. We work closely with internal / external stakeholders, such as Customer and Customer representatives on various levels, Site account managers and teams, Regional and Market Area teams, Business Line and Product Line teams, Sales Development, Marketing and Product Management teams, Delivery organization, Customer Logistics organization and ongoing relationships with all Metso Departments. WHAT YOU'LL DO Work as member of a maintenance team for reactive and preventative maintenance and repairs. Perform observation of machines and daily check list at the start of the shift and at the end of the shift to prevent possible damage. Conduct mechanical maintenance inspection of all equipment for damage, including pipes, valves, pumps, bearings, hoses, rollers, cylinders and structure associated with the equipment. Planned and scheduled maintenance & inspection tasks as per site requirements and complete work on schedule Ensure that work performed meet all statuary requirements and company standards. Housekeeping duties of the maintenance area. In cooperation with the other maintenance personnel ensure the optimisation plant performance and continues development of site maintenance, Ensure a safe work environment and compliance to all OHSAS regulations and standards during the work and ensure compliance with statuary and other regulations as are required by law. Continually review and where necessary suggest changes that will improve the department occupational health, safety, quality and efficiency performance. Willingness to assist with additional reasonable tasks with the Company Representative's approval for after hours work as well as overtime. Complete job cards, logbooks, and inspection reports Conduct safety inspections Full Deposit Stripping Machine (FDSM) report Edge Strip Replacement Machine (ESRM) report Monthly site activity report Participate in the following types of meetings Occupational health and safety, as required. Daily Engineering and Shift Meetings Monthly operation committee meetings Quarterly operational meetings on site and virtual. Fitting ad repairing of mechanical parts of plant machinery Site access issues must be immediately reported to the Company representative Support the Technical Team on requests for parts quotations, parts purchase orders from the client. Other duties as directed by line Manager. WHO YOU ARE Grade 12 (Matric) Trade tested Mechanical Technician red seal Three (3) to four (4) years apprenticeship program. Minimum 5 years field service experience on Metso Full Deposit Stripping Machine (FDSM) and Edge Strip Replacement Machine (ESRM) Computer Literate Understanding our principles of customer relations and interaction Ability to effectively communicate with a drive and performance orientation Ability to work in a team atmosphere WHAT SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES ARE ESSENTIAL FOR THIS ROLE? Leadership and relationship-building qualities, a bias for action, and detail-oriented behaviours are required A self-motivated individual with the ability to work under stress and meet deadlines Good communication, co-operation, and interpersonal skills Strong technical, analytical, and mechanical skills and abilities Exposure to internal and external environmental conditions, noise, hazards Own Transport to and from the site Must reside within the Rustenburg district. And be able to be on-site within 45min from a breakdown callout WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU You will be required to travel and visit various locations within the market area such as but not limited to: Customer Operational Site. Sub-Contractor Workshops and facilities. Customer Agent corporate facilities. Supply Chain locations such as warehouses, shipping points, Loading points etc. Participate and coordinate with cross-organizational project teams to promote a One Organisation approach towards the customer. Ensure efficient information sharing between customer and relevant parts of Metso's organization. Responsible for customer relationship and insights via customer visits and co-operation with other business areas. Understand customer business and capable to facilitate Metso's added value to it. Responsible for providing feedback on customer expectations pertaining to the specific project products assigned. Authority to raise customer concerns through the organization. SHEQ Related Guidelines Adhere to Safety policies, procedures, and work instructions. Ability to enforce safety compliance. Compliance to Occupational Health and Safety Act. Ensure Personal Protective Equipment is used as required. Manage the housekeeping in area of responsibility. Perform other duties as required related to Safety and Quality of the work you are supporting/ executing. Retain all relevant correspondence by e-filing or hard copies. Compliance and implementation of the Metso Modus Operandi, Life Saving Rules, and other mandated guidelines.
