UK SOLICITOR Paarl, South Africa or UK based Christopher Law Limited is looking for a dedicated and experienced UK Solicitor to join our dynamic legal team. As a key member, you will manage a caseload, engage with clients, defendants, courts, and third parties, and contribute to the success of Christopher Law Practice handling UK cases. The ideal candidate will bring a solid background and experience in UK Litigation, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of legal practice. Location: Paarl (South Africa) or UK Based depending on applicant location. Key Responsibilities: Communication: Effectively liaise with clients, defendants, courts, third parties, and medical agencies via telephone and email. Drafting: Prepare technical letters of advice/instructions to clients, experts, and third parties. Witness Statements: Create standard and technical witness statements to support legal proceedings. Correspondence: Engage in correspondence with defendants and the courts to ensure smooth case progression. Case Management: Maintain clear and accurate notes of all communication on our case management system. Time Management: Log time worked on files and ensure optimal time utilization for efficient case handling. Legal Protocols: Proactively progress files following the Pre-action Protocol and post-issue of proceedings. Litigation: Conduct litigation efficiently and effectively, ensuring adherence to legal standards within the Medical Negligence scope of practice. Insurance Collaboration: Collaborate with After the Event (ATE) insurers regarding cover, duties, and exclusions. Evidence Compilation: Compile evidence to support liability and quantum investigations. Document Drafting: Draft schedules of loss and witness statements to strengthen legal positions. Negotiation: Skillfully negotiate settlements to satisfactory conclusions. Mentorship: Provide mentorship, supervision, and support to junior staff. Qualifications and Skills: Qualified Solicitor in terms UK judicial requirements with a minimum of 3 years of experience in Medical Negligence cases. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong drafting and analytical skills. Ability to efficiently manage a high caseload. Proficiency in legal case management systems. Proven track record of successful negotiation and settlement.
