Sommelier - Hazyview

Key Responsibilities:
  • Curate and manage the lodge's wine cellar, ensuring a diverse and high-quality selection.
  • Conduct wine tastings and provide expert recommendations to guests based on their preferences and menu choices.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef to develop wine pairings that complement seasonal menus.
  • Maintain inventory, manage stock rotation, and oversee wine purchasing within budget guidelines.
  • Train and educate lodge staff on wine knowledge and service techniques.
  • Ensure adherence to alcohol service laws and regulations, promoting responsible drinking practices.
  • Uphold the lodge's standards of hospitality and contribute to an exceptional guest experience.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Sommelier in a high-end restaurant or luxury hospitality environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of wines, spirits, and beverages, including regions, varietals, and vintages.
  • Strong sensory evaluation skills and ability to discern quality and characteristics of wines.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to engage and educate guests effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and under pressure.
  • Certification from a recognized sommelier program (e.g., Court of Master Sommeliers, WSET) preferred.
