We are currently seeking a talented and passionate Sous Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. As a Sous Chef, you will be a key player in our culinary team, supporting the Executive Chef in the daily operations of our kitchen. You will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and service are consistently met. This role requires a creative and innovative culinary professional who can bring fresh ideas to our menus and help lead our team with enthusiasm and precision. Assist the Executive Chef in planning and directing food preparation and culinary activities. Oversee kitchen staff and ensure the smooth running of the kitchen in the absence of the Executive Chef. Create and maintain high standards of food preparation and presentation. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and food hygiene standards. Develop new menu items and specials, incorporating seasonal and local ingredients. Train, mentor, and manage kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment. Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and manage food costs effectively. Collaborate with the front-of-house team to ensure seamless service delivery. Handle guest inquiries and special requests, ensuring a memorable dining experience. Participate in catering and event planning for hotel functions and special occasions. At least 4 years in a similar role Matric Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role in a 4 or 5-star hotel or upscale restaurant. Culinary degree or relevant certification from a recognized institution. Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, food safety, and kitchen management. Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills. Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment. Creative flair and a passion for culinary innovation. Proficient in kitchen equipment and computer software for inventory and menu management. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
