SPECIALIST: CONTENT PLATFORMS REPORTS TO: SENIOR MANAGEMENT LOCATION: CENTURION POSITION PURPOSE Responsible for technology assessment, validation, evaluation for OTT/IPTV Content Platform technologies Tracking technology evolution and exploring potential solutions for OTT Video, VOD and IPTV Formulate, document and influence the company's OTT, VOD, IPTV platform architecture, strategy as well as technology selection and feature roadmap. The role will contribute to implementing entertainment Media Delivery Platform components through their technology delivery and operations lifecycle ensuring timely delivery of technically ready products and services that can be taken to market QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE Relevant B-Tech. Electrical or B.Eng. Electrical/Electronic Degree or a Technical qualification in Telecommunications (at least NQF level 6) 5 -10 years’ experience in large scale organisation (e.g. tier1 telco). Detailed knowledge of OTT TV platforms, with demonstrable detailed hands-on experience of IPTV and OTT products and IPTV/ OTT TV, video on demand, media systems ITIL Certifications (advantageous) Relevant vendor certification will be advantageous POSITION OUTPUT Prepare and create solution designs, feasibility studies, architecture concepts or PoCs for OTT Video, VOD, IPTV related topics Creation and realization of technical solution for the VOD/IPTV platform and subsystems depending on the project objective Responsible for review of technical studies and design proposals for applications Bringing together services at the design activity level, including drawing in IT, Core, and other Technology groups such that we build a compelling and differentiated service across the entire customer journey, not just the core product functionality, with built-in quality, robustness and operational excellence instrumentation and operating model design Performs vendor selection, due diligence and research Actively participate and coordinate tests to verify new platform functionality Supports capacity and planning modelling against requirements CORE COMPETENCIES Functional Knowledge CDN technologies and next generation CDN technologies Understanding of entertainment technology & ecosystem from Video Head-End (DVB technologies) & Media Delivery Platforms, and Apps (IOS, Android, HTML5) Familiarity around Video CAS, DRM, Video back-ends, workflows, CMS, security services, Application Services, CDN, Ad Insertion, broadband data, home networking, TV, VOD, Cdvr Thorough technical understanding of currently available IP based delivery technologies for IPTV, VOD or WebTV is highly desirable Functional Skills Analytical, Communication (written & verbal), Appreciation of complex and large multi-user production systems and their architecture, Awareness of production operational processes Attitudes/Leadership Competencies Thought Leadership: Developing strategies / Providing insights, Generating ideas, Exploring possibilities, Examining information, Adopting practical approaches Market Leadership: Developing expertise, Challenging ideas, Interacting with people, Understanding people, Seizing opportunities, Managing tasks Business Leadership: Pursuing goals, Taking action, Upholding standards, Managing tasks, Seizing opportunities and driven to motivate others People Leadership: Making decisions, Empowering individuals, Challenging ideas, Directing people, Convincing people, Interacting with people Personal Leadership: Embracing change, Thinking positively, Showing composure, Understanding people, Valuing individuals, Team working Values and Culture Aligned with the company Values and Culture Apply Now
