Food manufacturing plant seeks a dynamic Systems Accountant who will serve to connect the domains of finance and technology, ensuring the integrity, efficiency, and optimization of financial systems and processes within the organization. Leveraging expertise in both accounting principles and technological advancements, you will contribute to accurate financial reporting, informed decision-making, regulatory compliance, and the budgeting process. Responsibilities include overseeing the maintenance, configuration, and optimization of financial systems, as well as troubleshooting system issues and implementing solutions. You will need a working knowledge of Syspro ERP, or other SQL based ERPs (advantageous). Preference will be given to EE candidates in line with the Company’s employment equity plan and BBBEE strategy. You will identify opportunities and streamline financial processes, enhance automation, and improve data accuracy, collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement. This role also involves generating and analyzing financial reports to provide insights into business performance, trends, and variances, assisting in the preparation of financial statements, budget forecasts, and management reports. You will also coordinate system upgrades, patches, and enhancements, and integrate financial systems with other business applications to streamline data flow. You will be responsible for empowering the finance function to effectively support strategic initiatives, mitigate risks, achieve organizational objectives, and optimize the budgeting process in a rapidly evolving business environment. Knowledge and education: • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or related field. Advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., CA, CIMA) preferred. • Proven experience (typically 3-5 years) in accounting, financial systems management, or related roles. • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls. • Knowledge and experience working with Syspro ERP, or other SQL based ERPs (advantageous). • Knowledge and experience working with Qlikview / (advantageous). • Experience with SQL (Structured Query Language) for data manipulation and reporting. • Familiarity with Microsoft Query for extracting and analyzing data from databases and other sources. • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. • Experience and knowledge from working in an FMCG environment. Skills: • Very strong aptitude for technology – (experience in automating processes would be advantageous) • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and identify insights. • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing business needs. • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy. • Proactive approach to problem-solving. • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. • Ability to work on own initiative, prioritize work and handle a pressurized working environment.
