MAIN PURPOSE To enable the Foods BU Assortment Planning profession from the CoE. Through continuous system and process improvement and the support of colleagues To optimise the Assortment Optimisation (Intactix/ CKB) Systems by providing insights and the appropriate Assortment methods and by fine tuning the system parameters to enable our category colleagues to deliver customer centric, effective and profitable assortments that deliver the category strategy. To use data analysis to support informed decision making with a view to influencing the categories and improving the profits and customer satisfaction indicators across the Foods BU To support the Foods business systems within AO and explore opportunities that could enable the Foods business to achieve its goals. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Lead the Assortment Planner through upskilling both functional and personal expertise - Maintain and track a log of issues escalated to IT by the business - Investigate user queries as they are passed on to the Centre of Excellence by the Food Ops, Users or IT team - Escalate relevant issues to Woolworths IT as required - Continually Optimise the Assortment Optimisation System - Ensure that the optimal merchandising techniques are used to create the very best assortments for the various Foods categories as required - Optimise the input parameters that drive AO as required - Advise category assortment & management team members on the best way to achieve the best results from the assortment planning system - Identify and prioritise required improvements and or new developments for AO (and other related) systems. - Co-ordinate the delivery of the identified enhancements and ensure that they are sustainably embedded into the assortment planning user community - Identify system issue trends and drive a sustainable solution for common issues - Scan the industry and relevant bodies for new and appropriate methods to improve the assortment planning function within Woolworths Foods - Investigate these new methods, selecting those that are relevant for implementation within Woolworths Foods. - Provide input into relevant training to ensure that new ways of planning are incorporated into the Woolworths ways of working. - Custodian of documented training material and process guides. KEY COMPETENCIES - Relevant commercial diploma/degree or equivalent (BSc, BComm) would be desirable - Strong Retail / Commercial experience, preferable in Foods 5-8 years - Previous retail management experience in the fields of assortment, range and merchandising with a large global retailer (Supermarket retail experience preferred) - A strong understanding of End to End category management principles. - Preferable management experience MANAGEMENT / LEADERSHIP (includes personal leadership) Behavioural: - Demonstrates passion for and commitment to excellence - Demonstrates the Woolies values - Demonstrates a commitment to high performance - is delivery focused and goal driven, flexible and thrives on and responds to performance feedback - Understands themselves and the impact they have on the people they interact with and the organisational culture, and adjusts their behaviour accordingly - Plays a leading role in driving sustainable transformational initiatives at an operational level - Builds strong networks and strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders - Engages and connects people to enable delivery of BU operating plan. - Consistent in their decision making and owns the consequences thereof due to strong business understanding and commercial knowledge - Demonstrates attention to detail and reacts to commercial and customer issues within their operation - Manages people to execute BU operating plan - Manages delivery in a positive and consistent way that creates challenging growth experiences LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES Self - Understand themselves and the impact they have on the people they interact with and the organisation culture and - Adjust their behaviour accordingly. TECHNICAL / FUNCTIONAL - Great understanding of the merchandising industry and good customer knowledge - Strategic and analytical thinking - Strong commercial acumen and credibility - Strong planning skills with high ability to integrate - Good project management and process thinking skills - Ability to influence others, build and sustain relationships across functional teams - Excellent interpersonal and networking skills - Strong integrator - proven ability to work within a matrix and specialist functions within Central Planning, IT, Marketing, Selling - Specialist and highly advanced buying, planning and assortment planning experience (at least 10 years) within foods retailing - Understanding and analysis of current & future techniques and trends - Trend Analysis, the ability to analysis and review of past / historical information - Sound knowledge and understanding of consumer shopping habits; competitor activity and market players in the retail sector; consumer demographics - Retail Assortment & Display Management, the understanding of the Geo, Macro, Micro assortment parameters and ability to analyse, interpret and optimize KPI's relevant to assortment - Range & Catalogue Management, the understanding of range construction, analysis and optimizing performance" Closing Date: 04 September 2020 Apply Now
