Our client, a international market leader in the packaging, print and ink industry, based in Pinetown (Durban), is currently looking to employ an experienced Technical Manager to their dynamic team Top job - an awesome career opportunity awaits you Job Requirements: MSc in chemistry/polymer science. 10 - 15 Years' Chemistry experience preferably within the Ink and Printing Industry. 10 -15 years relevant experience specifically in product synthesis or characterization. Good understanding of pigment, resin and additive chemistry. Proven records of synthesizing or developing a Novel product/s or innovation of new product or new product application. Computer Literate – Excel, PP, Word, Office, IBM Notes and SAP Strong analytical skills. Pro Active – able to develop oneself and take initiative. Strong theoretical and practical application knowledge of analytical techniques including GC,GCMS , FTIR,COF and IFS. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Good organizational skills. Ability to work independently or as part of a team. Key Roles: New product development as per market needs, modification of existing products as per customer requirements Root cause of customer complaints, resolve and provide solution in timely manner. Reverse engineering complex aqueous or solvent based mixtures using a variety of wet and instrumental separation techniques. Evaluating new or alternative raw materials. Close co-ordination with operations, application and sales team for product trials and challenges faced. Identification and consumption of SLOB materials. Objectives: Eliminate or reduce customer claim due to product failure at customer site. Present evidence to the customer why problem exist. Prepare and present report to be shared with customer about new product offering. Use of scientific approach in evaluation of new raw material for alternate source development, cost reduction and quality improvement. Development of products in conjunction with sales and production to meet customer requirements. Making recommendations for the introduction of new technologies where appropriate, to serve the ongoing needs of technical support. Identification of cost drivers and components in the product and production process.
