Technical Systems Engineer Hybrid - South Africa

We are looking for an experienced Technical/systems Engineer to join our technical department team, the role included but not limited to the: Installs, configures, maintains, troubleshoots and upgrades server and desktop infrastructure, software, networks and databases to ensure 24/7 365 availability to all systems; Proactively monitor server, networks and database performance and provide capacity management; Make recommendations regarding hardware and software acquisitions and provide input into Server / infrastructure architectural designs; prepares/maintains documentation and provides user assistance to customers and performs related work as required. IT Operations Technical systems architecture design and configurations. Prepare technical documentation and specifications. Installation, configuration and support of Microsoft/Linux server operating systems. SAN / NAS Installation, configuration, and maintenance. Installation, configuration, and maintenance of VMware/Hyper-V/Citrix. Installation, configuration, and maintenance of databases eg. Microsoft SQL. Network installation, configuration, and continuous monitoring. Diagnosis of network issues, monitoring switches, routers and Network cards. Onsite, Cloud (AWS and Azure), O365, Active Directory and remote desktop support. Printer configuration and support. PABX system support and maintenance. General hardware and software support. Backup software installation and maintenance. Anti-Virus software installation, updating, and monitoring. Attend technical meetings with the customer. Update and maintain the site records / support logs via the helpdesk system. Travel to customer location to perform any of the above. After hours work as and when required (Server maintenance after-hours). ITIL process adoption. General technical problem solving. Customer Services Timeously responding to all queries/complaints. Listening attentively to queries/complaints. Clarifying customer problems. Handling of incoming calls. Follow up customer queries/complaints. Keeping the customer and relevant stakeholders updated. Entrenching good rapport with customers. A Degree or BTech in Information Systems or an IT related Diploma and minimum 3 years related experience. Experience working on large enterprise systems in a 24/7 environment is preferable. Microsoft, Linux and Cloud Certifications preferable. Able to work independently as well as part of a team. Able to take ownership.
