Tender Engineer - Paarl

Our client is looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Tender Engineer to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and preparing all the tender documents related to engineering projects, ensuring that all submissions are compliant with the requirements and are submitted on time. This role requires a blend of technical knowledge, analytical skills, and project management abilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Tender Preparation and Project Acquisition: Develop competitive tender submissions to secure projects, facilitating the execution team's ability to maintain efficient plant operations, conduct effective preventative and corrective maintenance, and meet or exceed financial targets.
  • Client Requirements Analysis and Execution: Analyze and implement client specifications and requirements accurately to ensure project success.
  • Relationship Management: Foster constructive and informative relationships with the service execution team, clients, and suppliers/subcontractors to support project execution and service delivery.
  • Service Delivery Optimization: Collaborate with service management to refine and enhance systems and procedures for optimal service delivery, including aspects of plant design, operation, and maintenance.
  • Process Design and Technology Selection: Guide the process design by selecting appropriate treatment technologies in line with our client's design principles and best engineering practices, aiming for cost-effectiveness while ensuring compliance with client specifications.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a representative of our client in discussions with potential clients, vendors, and subcontractors to negotiate and clarify project details.
  • Engineering Documentation: Generate and prepare essential engineering documents for tenders and studies, such as technical descriptions, process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (PIDs), datasheets, and more.
  • Risk and Value Management: Engage in HAZOP/HAZAN studies, value engineering, and design reviews as necessary to ensure project integrity and value.
  • Equipment Specification and Vendor Evaluation: Draft technical specifications for equipment inquiries and conduct thorough evaluations of vendor proposals, ensuring alignment with project requirements.
  • Technical Liaison and Updates: Serve as the technical point of contact for clients, providing clarifications and updates while staying informed of the latest technologies, design tools, and industry developments within our client's group and the broader water treatment sector.
  • Tender and Proposal Coordination: Manage the preparation and submission of tenders, proposals, and quotations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with requirements.
  • Financial and Commercial Modeling: Create detailed financial and commercial models to establish competitive pricing strategies for projects, considering both on-site services and the construction of new water treatment facilities.
  • Contractual Support and Plant Commissioning: Assist in contract review and verification, and support the commissioning of new water treatment plants, including operational and maintenance agreements.
  • Operational Optimization and Standards Implementation: Monitor and optimize plant operations to meet specifications, and lead the adoption of company standards and systems to build a reliable operations database.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure adherence to health, safety, and contractual standards throughout project execution.
  • Tender Management and Documentation: Organize initial tender meetings, analyze tenders objectively, identify challenges, and coordinate technical resources for plant design and cost estimation.
  • Documentation and Communication: Maintain comprehensive records of client communications and tender documentation, ensuring accuracy and organization.
  • Financial and Administrative Duties: Keep tender documentation and client relationship management (CRM) systems up to date, and prepare presentations and meeting minutes as required.
  • Quality and Safety Compliance: Comply with health and safety regulations and ISO9001 standards, contributing to a safe and quality-driven project environment.
  • External Communication and Training: Maintain regular communication with clients and partners on technical or contractual matters and participate in relevant training sessions to enhance job performance.
  • Confidentiality and Teamwork: Uphold strict confidentiality regarding all company information and work collaboratively within the team to achieve project and company goals.
  • Professional Development: Attend training seminars related to the position and perform additional duties as assigned by the department manager, ensuring continuous professional growth and contribution to the company's success.

Key Skills:

  • Experience in advanced treatment processes i.e. ultra-filtration, reverse osmosis processes, filtration, biological treatment etc.
  • Knowledge of commercial terms.
  • Computer literate (Google slides, Google documents, Google sheets).
  • Organisation skills.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.

Qualifications:

  • BTech/BSc in an engineering field (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical or Civil (Water) at a recognised institution or assessed equivalent competence.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years working experience in water and waste water treatment industry.
