Phakisa Holdings is currently seeking a Traffic Controller in the Sasolburg area. Road Traffic Controllers manually direct road traffic and pedestrian flows on, near, or adjacent to roads during road closures or part road closures due to construction, maintenance, or roadside works; public events; or emergency responses using signs and devices to ensure the safety of workers, motorists, and pedestrians. Direct the flow of vehicles to help motorists avoid road work. Your responsibilities involve protecting drivers, pedestrians, and labourers by using flags to signal potential hazards. You use barricades, flags, traffic cones, signs, and hand signals to reroute cars and enforce applicable safety regulations and speed limits. As a construction traffic controller, your duties involve standing in a work zone on a road or highway and managing a steady flow of cars and trucks, sometimes during inclement weather. You need physical stamina as well as the ability to focus for an extended period. Sets up, manages, and removes temporary traffic control schemes/signs. Directs vehicular and pedestrian traffic around construction zones, construction workers and the general public. Handles a Stop-Slow sign, or manages other similar traffic control signs and devices, to direct traffic. Communicates with other road traffic personnel, construction workers and emergency response teams via radio, to provide and receive updates on traffic conditions. Completes site checks and monitors traffic behaviour and/or flow to ensure safety is maintained at all times. Takes instructions from crew leaders, foremen, managers, inspectors, auditors, or officials. Grade 12 Traffic Control Certificate and experience will be appreciated. 2-4 years' experience.
