This role is responsible for the safe & efficient operation of an Excavator in a mining production environment and to operator other equipment such as but not limited to, Dozer, Grader, Water Cart and Dump Truck as required to conduct production mining operations at Norton Gold Fields Limited Paddington Operations. Key Duties / Tasks : Conduct pre starts on equipment prior to operation. Initiate and participate in equipment handovers with Open Pit Shift Supervisor and cross shift operator. Follow and interpret mine plan instructions to achieve good quality production results in a timely manner. Interpret, understand and apply survey instructions and plans. Reduce consumables waste. Report significant changes in the ground conditions and use of consumables. Operate equipment to “Best Practice” standards to minimise damage on equipment. Conclude shift with post shift checks; cleaning and refuelling equipment where appropriate. Assess and control risks. Ability to exercise good judgment and be innovative in selecting, using and improving the correct procedure, process or technique to solve problems, execute tasks and safely operate required machinery. Conduct manual scaling technique as required. Share knowledge and/or experiences with crew and/or management. Maintain a high level of housekeeping. Safe, efficient and productive machinery operation at all times. Liaise with team members to effect immediate clean-up of spills. Ensure minimal disruptions to the loading and haulage cycle. Develop systems in conjunction with other team members to achieve minimal machine hour usage and maximum effectiveness. Any other duties as directed. To perform to a standard that is inline or better than in the training competency standards on site. Qualifications : Current, unrestricted Western Australian C Class Driver’s Licence. Satisfactory National Police Clearance. Senior First Aid Certificate (desirable). Skills and Experience WORK KNOWLEDGE: Demonstrated commitment to ensuring a safe working environment. Previous experience in a related role (maintenance, UG, etc.) desirable. Previous experience operating heavy machinery (haul trucks, farm equipment, etc.) highly desirable. Mechanical aptitude desirable. Ability to accurately complete paperwork (run sheets, timesheets, etc.) relevant to the role. COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Mature team player with good communication skills. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively using the 2 way radio. Demonstrated interpersonal skills. Able to speak, read and write legible English at an Australian Secondary School standard. COMPUTER SKILLS: Basic Computer skills (Email, Word, etc.).
