Job Purpose The WordPress Developer is responsible for both back-end and front-end development, including creating WordPress themes and plugins. The Developer should have a strong understanding of industry trends and content management systems. As part of the marketing team, you will be tasked with creating and editing our websites and their connectivity to other marketing stack tools. You will also work closely with the Digital Strategist to ensure high-performing sites and accurate capture of analytics. Key Responsibilities The WordPress Developer key responsibilities include: Designing and implementing new features and functionality Organize and manage web development Perform tasks related to WordPress environment installations, base configurations, and upgrades. Working day-to-day building and editing WordPress sites, uploading images, creating content, working with web hosts, performing SEO audits and updates, and creating/presenting analytics and traffic reports. An understanding of the entire web development process, including design, development, and deployment is preferred. Create and customize WordPress themes and plugins. Design and implement new features and functionality. Ability to convert comprehensive layout and wireframes into working HTML pages Ensuring high-performance and availability, and managing all technical aspects of the CMS Helping formulate an effective, responsive design and turning it into a working theme and plugin. Building user interfaces for websites and/or web applications Comfortable working with debugging tools like Firebug, Chrome inspector, etc. Ability to understand CSS changes and their ramifications to ensure consistent style across platforms and browsers Ability to handle and manage projects Knowledge of how to interact with RESTful APIs and formats (JSON, XML) Proficient understanding of code versioning tools (Git, SVN, and Mercurial) Strong understanding of PHP back-end development The optimal candidate for this position will possess a good balance of website design, graphic design, social media management, UX knowledge, API integration, and analytics. Adhoc social media management Skills, Competencies and Minimum Criteria 5 years proven work experience in PHP programming, MySQL, XHTML, CSS, Javascript Extensive knowledge and experience of building WordPress CMS websites using the best practice and defacto standard plugins Experience creating multilingual websites Experience building user interfaces for websites and/or web applications Familiarity with online marketing strategies and marketing channels. Ability to grasp future trends in digital technologies and act proactively. Degree / Diploma in Computer Science/ IT or equivalent Good understanding of cross platform and cross browser issues. 4 - 5 years' previous experience working for a design agency advantageous. Web Frameworks UI/UX design abilities Experience with the responsive and adaptive design is strongly preferred. A valid driver's license with own reliable transport is a non-negotiable for this role.
