The Lapalala Wilderness Nature Reserve, being an equal opportunity employer, is seeking to employ a qualified and experienced petrol or diesel mechanic. The successful incumbent will be responsible for the following operational aspects. 1. Overall fleet and workshop management. 2. Effective workshop stores and equipment management including spares and tools. 3. Effective and efficient planning, controlling, coordinating, and implementation of all fleet operations. 4. Effective recording and reporting of all aspects of operations through the various technology applications being used by the reserve. Qualifications, experience, and requirements. 1. A minimum of five years’ experience as a qualified mechanic supported by contactable referees. 2. Ability to work under pressure in a constantly changing environment. 3. Proficiency in English both written and spoken. 4. Medically fit and capable of doing manual labour. 5. Willingness to train and uplift workshop personnel. 5. Valid code 10 driver’s license. 6. Computer literate and proficient in MS Word and Excel would be highly advantageous. 7. Sober habits. 8. Team player. 9. Willing to flexible working hours. Purpose of the position. 1. To oversee fleet management, including vehicle and plant inspections, service schedules and maintenance. 2. The fleet includes. a. Earth moving equipment. (front end loader, grader, tipper truck, roller, water truck, tractors and trailers) b. LDV’s, generators and pumps. 3. Minimize vehicle down time and ensure maximum turnaround in the workshop. 4. Maintain high workmanship standards and liaise with Department head on vehicle repairs and servicing. 5. Fulfill mechanical repairs. 6. Welding and or bodywork experience would be advantageous. 7. Effective management of workshop staff. 8. Effective management of vehicle maintenance records. 9. Ensure workshop compliance with Health and Safety regulations. Additional information. 1. Interested parties are expected to provide a detailed Curriculum Vitae along with contactable references as well as copies of relevant qualifications. 2. This position is ideally suitable for a single person, but not limited to. 3. Suitable unfurnished accommodation will be provided. 4. Lights, water, and Wi-Fi communication are included. 5. A salary will be negotiated based on qualifications and experience. 6. Uniforms and PPE are provided. 7. Transport on the reserve is provided. 8. A six- month probation period will be included in the contract. 9. The successful incumbent will be required to undergo criminal background checks. 10. A shortlist of successful applicants will be notified 14 days after the closing date for applications. If no notice is received, the application was unsuccessful. 11.
